Did Luigi Pirandello (Famous Author) Serve in WW1? ?

Some sources say he did while others say he didn't? Something about being taken prisoner by the Austrians? Gah need some answers that's backed up wit reliable sources.

  1. I don't think he did.  He was born in 1867, so would have been about 47 at the outbreak of WWI - a bit old to enlist or be sent up.

    However, having googled, I found that his two sons were both captured as Prisoners of War.
