I live in Puerto Rico and Margarito beat cotto....how? with outstanding body punching and hooks,cotto wanted to brawl with him and it didn't work out,that's it! OH! and does anyone remember the beat down HOPKINS gave tito trinidad years ago?They also said Hopkins used steroids in that fight.......fast foward to now....he never did test positive,as will margarito,GIVE HIM PROPS!!!THE MOST AVOIDED FIGHTER IN THAT WEIGHT CLASS! And de la hoya won't even fight the guy,embarrasing!!

Yes, i agree with Oz above that Margarito did indeed receive a lot of hard punches from Cotto and they did not seem to effect him. That man (Margarito) was like a robot and just kept coming back for more. It was clear that the FIGHTER had to be on something.

And by the way, boxer's DO use steroids. In 2000, Roy Jones and Richard Hall both tested positive for steroid use during the fight as well as Fernando Vargas in 2002 and James Toney in 2005.

I most deff agree with Oz an PRdiva that Margarito did receive a lot of hard punches from Cotto, They did not effect him anywhere in anyway Cotto would hit him.  Margarito was taken his punches like if he was a robot and just kept ignoring Cotto's hits. Not only that but by the 8th or 9th round both fighters should be aleast a little tired. And Cotto seem tired around those rounds, And he should. Not at any point did Margarito show he was tired, Not even at the end of the fight. At the end of the fight he looked fresh and new like if he didn't fight at all. HE WASN'T EVEN OUT OF BREATH!! Now how is that possible? It was clear that Margarito could of been on something. Now i record the fight so i seen it over and over, So if you did to i think you should rewatch it!

Now my answer WE DON'T KNOW YET FOR SURE!! But with all those things i pointed out theres a highly BIG posibility that its true.

I read someone said that even Cotto admits to the lose. Umm duhh!! What was he go to say? That Margarito cheated or something hahaa some of you ppl make me laugh!! And What's with the racis comments? Do you seriously want to go down this route?  I'm not a fan of Cotto, but he fought a great fight and would've won against a lesser opponent.  If Cotto would have come out victorious I would've been disappointed that my guy didn't win, but I would've given Cotto his props, not look for excuses why my guy didn't win.

No, Margarito has had that same physique for years.  Besides I never heard steriods being able to increase your ability to take a punch.  Cotto is a good fighter, but this is the first time he fought a great fighter in/or close to their prime.  It was a mistake for Top Rank to put Cotto in this match.

Highly doubtfull! Yeah he looked pretty cut but when you're training like these guys do 6 days a week for hours on end, you will get to looking ripped and cut! These small guys have at the most 2% bodyfat on 'em to begin with. Look at Tyson in his prime. He was cut and ripped, he never touched a weight till his prison term but yet he looked as if he was on the juice.

First of all most of you did not answer the question and stated things that show how ignorant you are.  Also steroids are used by athletes not for the power but for the stamina (don't call anyone an idiot if you are not a connoisseur on the subject)

Now to answer lets all be honest margarito stayed strong throughout the whole fight. Cotto administered plenty of solid power punches. Cotto has excellent power who can knock you out with both hands but yet margarito withheld all the blows and did not seem to affect him. Personally i believe that margarito looked too good of a shape at the 11th round after the punishment he took but margarto is a good fighter not boxer. I don't know if he used steroid but maybe other stimulants that helped aided him.

cotto got his *** whupped.if margarito used steroids it would have came out already. it was an excellent fight and a rematch should happen. What should stop is the disrespect between Latinos. It was sad that the Mexicans were booing the puertorican national anthem. WOW! What a great fight.....I'm Rican and I was going for my countryman but he just got his @$$ handed the last couple rounds. Still breaks my heart cuz I lost some $,$$$.$$.....we won't know until Monday if either boxer was using roids. It should take that long though. Margarito was a lot hungrier for this fight than Cotto. He's like what. 37? If he would've lost he would've been done! Cotto still in his 20's so he's got plenty left in him. Whats with his trainer/uncle not speaking to him? Dude, fire his @$$...!!!!! It was a great fight against two potential legends.  Margarito  wore Cotto out.  Cotto simply did not have enough stamina to outbox Margarito for two more rounds.

Nop! I'm Puertorrican... I think that Margarito was a lot more prepared than Cotto was!! Cotto was already showing signs around the 4th round that he was getting a little too tired. He's never fraughted at that pace!!!! Usually he'll take his time an box around. Obviously Margarito already knew this and decided to use it against him by putting A LOT of Pressure. Cotto simple tired!!! Im a boxing fan. Of course my heart is with my fellow Puertorrican but that's just how it happened
