So that Kimi would be the Champion for Ferrari? And thus effectively confirmed that Massa is the 2nd driver?

  1. Dan is bang on, Felipe's stops were longer, allowing Kimi past, I respect it though, as Felipe had no title chance, Austria 2002 on the other hand, grrrr

  2. Massa did not let Kimi past Kimi leapfroged him at the last pitstop but I think ferrari were going to tell Massa to let Kimi past.

  3. Yes but in a less conspicuous way. They didn't want the barrichello-schumacher thing to happen again. I'm pretty sure they put Massa in the pits a little longer and Massa probably drove a little slower as well. He would've known that Kimi needed first place.

  4. It didn't confirm Massa as the second driver, if he had been in a position to win the title and Kimi had been out of it then Ferrari would have done the same for him. What they did do was "massage" the pitstops a little to make sure that Kimi came out ahead, which avoided anything which would look bad on TV.

  5. Yes he was slowed but it didn't indicate he was number 2. Brazil was the last race and Raikkonen was the only one of the two who could take the Championship by winning.'

  6. Ferrari would have most likely held Massa slightly longer than needed in the pits to ensure that Kimi would pass... plus I'm fairly certain they told Massa to 'look after the car' and told Kimi to 'push Massa'... to avoid 'team orders'...
