Just wanted to see your input, i think he did retire just to dodge Cotto/Margarito because he knew the winner would be contending for the title. He is only 31 i think he retired too early and just wanted to leave undefeated.

  1. i agree, he did want to dodge margo and cotto, but mayweather will have to fight again sooner or later because if he dont fight no more he dosen't get no money and eventually his money is going to decrease, so he is going to come back for the money

  2. honestly no 1 is really sure but to tell u the truth i think he did just because after the Del la Hoya fight he got cocky and big headed but he didnt fight Del la Hoya in his prime and now that Cotto and Margarito are the judge of who he fights and he doesnt have a choice of a for sure win

  3. d**n right it was. He turned down Margarito before for what would of been his biggest payday at the time and he had been trying to portray Cotto as a B Class fighter to say thats the reason he wouldnt fight him. Floyd was a Duck full of S**t.

He never even defended his title against a welterweight yet they consider him the best welterweight. How that happens, I dont know. Can you imaginen what Cotto/Margo would of done to him and not just them in the welter weight division theres Berto,Williams,Clottey,Quintana,Cintron and Mosley. and im sure its safe to say these guys would have been more competitve then De La Hoya or Hatton.

And for those who say Mayweather would win easy consider this in the DLH/Floyd bout. DLH got 8-10 straight body shots on Floyd and did no damage Floyd just laughed them off. Do you truly belive if Cotto or Margarito would get 10 straight body shots Floyd would still be standing. I think not.

By the way Cintron who is a k.o. puncher couldnt hurt Margarito or do anything to keep him from coming foward. So i wouldnt belive there anything that Floyd could do to keep him off. And if DLH could cut off the ring for Floyd so can Cotto. Mayweather retired because he knew that undefeated record was in jepeordy. That type of outlook is a shame to boxing and anyone who puts on a pair of gloves Im glad he retired.

  4. He dodged Cotto, not Margarito. Mayweather wanted nothing to do with Cotto. He saw how Cotto dominated Zab, Shane, and how Cotto spanked Gomez.

    Mayweather is bull$hit.

  5. i agree with all the above, he's dodging good high quality boxers and he has enough money......also , he has nothing to gain and everything to lose, his title, his undefeated record and for what more money, he can go to Vince and make some wwe appearances and make money by fake fighting and talking sh-t.....

  6. Honestly we are unsure  if this joker left boxing for good.

But we can see clearly panic has set on Floyd.

Notwithstanding Floyd remains undefeated, he has left with many unanswer questions. He could have been the great es boxer ever, the greatest among greatest. The unconditional best among the best. Instead his 39-0 record, all his belts, all his skills, and his pride  faded into oblivion.

  7. He is dodging de la Hoya and the winner of the Cotto/Margarito fight, because he'd lose both of those fights.

De la Hoya was very close to beating Mayweather and if he hadn't punched himself out, de la Hoya would've won. Plus, the fact that Mayweather Sr is training de la Hoya for the fight makes me think that Mayweather Sr will be able to train Oscar knowing what Pretty Boy's weaknesses are.

The winner of the Cotto/Margarito fight will be able to beat PBF, regardless. Cotto would have a harder time, but the fact that he has such brutal body punches leads me to think that he'd get the best of Mayweather. Margarito's style is just too much for Mayweather and he wouldn't be able to KO Margarito the way he got Hatton.

  8. mayweather retired to dodge the Oscar De La Hoya fight and the potential threat of having to fight the winner of the Cotto- Margarito AFTER he fights Oscar... and U know Mayweather would beat either but in the process Cotto OR Margarito would fucin hurt his body...and the fight with Oscar is going to hurt him to have to fight a big opponent next...

  9. He already has more than enough money, and clearly doesn't have the same passion for boxing as he once did. He would have still beat the **** out of both Cotto and Margarito, easily.

  10. Mayweather has the most suppirior skills in boxing, he's not tryin to dodge anybody, he just has hand problems, broken  hand at the end of every fight, too many wrist fractures in his left, he's been boxin form a 5 year old, he wants to get a taste of life, De la hoya came close because Floyd underestimated oscar, it wont happen again, and believe me Cotto is not ready for Mayweather, Cotto is still peace of cake

  11. Yes. Quack, quack!

  12. No. he retired because he has already made a ridiculous sum of money. He is better than either of them and has nothing to prove.

  13. maybe.. but he really could have lost the desire to fight. he shouldn't have to fight Cotto or anybody just because the fans want him to keep fighting... if he lost the passion to compete he would prbobably lose to a still hungry fighter like Cotto.

  14. Wow, how quickly they forget. I am betting half the people who posted all this called for Gatti and Hatton to beat PBF.

Okay, gonna go over this. One, Mayweather was NEVER a natural welt, he went up to it. To say he didnt have the power is a given, thats like picking on a kid in a wheelchair for not winning a sprinting contest, thats obvious.

Two, MARGARITO would have beaten Mayweather? You GOTTA be kidding me. Margarito, for all the warrior that he is...is SLOWWWWWWW. I mean traffic jam slow. What in Gods name makes you think he would even HIT Mayweather?? I mean Diego Corrales was supposed to be a terror til he ran into Floyd, and consequently the floor. Floyd fought for money, he made no qualms about being a prostitute. If he was going to go thru all the physical pains that his bone spurs caused him in his hands to train, he was going to be d**n well paid for it. And for as much as he was offered..he got alot more of the gate and PPV fighting DLH.

Three, Cotto. Now Ill give credit where credit is due. Cotto is bar none the hardest hitting person in any division, relatively. He hits harder than Pavlik (relative to his weight), but hes been schooled on a couple of occasions by "lesser fighters" (Chop chop Corley comes to mind). Hes never fought ANYTHING relatively skilled as Mayweather. Dont say Mosely, Mosely is just fast...never ring smart.

Four, BACK WITH THE DELAHOYA would have beat him thing? New flash...DELAHOYA ALWAYS GASSES OUT LATE. Every boxer in the world has that figured out. "If Delahoya wouldnt have gassed out..."...well yeah, but he did. As he always does. He would have in the rematch too.

And thinking that Floyd senior would have ANYTHING to do with the outcome of that fight is completely unreal. Floyd senior was the lesser of the brothers in boxing (he spent more time in jail than boxing), Roger always had better competition. Floyd Sr. is content letting his son make him rich and give him the recognition he could never get himself in the ring. All he can do is be stuck on himself and write poetry.

"Oops, time for me to go....

    Oscar done hit the flo.....

I shoulda known my son was better...

and these dreads make me look like The Predator".
