I'm not so sure, but I think he had surgery to make his skin look that way, because I've never heard of any cases of someone black turning white and I've heard that he had surgery.

in teh early 80s his skin gradually began to go pale. it was falsely rumored that he was bleaching his skin. Jackson was diagnosed with vitiligo later on (vitalgo is a skin disease that cause loss of pigment resulting in pale skin)

im not sure if he had skin surgery or if the the vitalgo gradually just made him whiter

I think it was because he got some white spots wich happened to be the disease. So maybe he made himself look white so his skin would match.
