According to officials Michael Phelps touched the wall first, but when they showed the underwater cam, it showed that Cavic was the one that touched the wall first. Even the commentators were surprised. So who really won?

  1. STOP POSTING results from  http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com! they are fraud, as Michael Phelps is! ledgedly, the showed us a "frame by frame" slideshow, thus proving Phelps won. BUT NO, THEY DIDNT! their game is to make it look like diference is really 0.01 second, and it is not.

official rules are to touch the pad with both hands, so the result would count. and here is the frame, aquired by my friend, who acctually took the underwater video from a source -

(the missing frame, that all major sports sites in the world do not show) -

    who won ?

  2. 100m butterfly Bejing 2008 Phelps vs. Cavic? Tie?

I believe the result should have been a tie. Ties have happened before in the olympics so why not now? One camera angle points out that cavic won then the other points out that phelps won. Plus, one can argue that cavic did not press against the sensor hard enough, while phelps was in butterfly motion and his hands slammed on the sensor. In addition, if you don't call a tie between narrowest possible margin then what can be a tie? No swimmer will EVER touch the sensors at the same time.

  3. Phelps did. Dont believe me? Look at this :)

  4. This is what Cavic had to say a couple of minutes ago on his website:

    Success!!!

I did it!!! I won an Olympic medal everybody! I’m sorry to brag, but I’m sure you all will forgive me just this one time!

So, allow me to clear some things up:

1.The Media’s Manipulation and Misinterpretations: It never ceases to amaze me that garbage that reporters will come up with in order to make a story. Seriously. Anyone who knows me personally knows that I’m very respectful of others. I’ll admit that I’ve got bad blood with one person in the world, but that’s really it. I would never do anything to trash my competitors with seriousness, or to belittle them. If you were there to hear my media interviews, you’d know how much respect I’ve got for Michael Phelps. For a lot of reasons though, its easy to see why many reporters would pick up on anything negative and use it to support their imaginations. Am I a bad guy? No, not even close. I’ve got no criminal record, never got in trouble in school for anything (ever), and never got into a fight. Hate me for having some disagreements about some foreign policies, or for posting up some fast times, but I’m anything but a punk. I’m cool with all of my competitors that have even met me for a second. I like to think I’m easy going and easy to talk to… don’t imagine reasons to hate on me.

    2. On winning a SILVER medal: I am completely happy, and still in complete disbelief that I was able to achieve this feat! I’m not joking… It’s a tough loss, but I’m on cloud nine. I congratulated Phelps and his coach Bob Bowman. I’m just glad the race was fun to watch for everyone. It was a pleasure for me, really.

3.Filing a Protest: Yes, as you all saw, I almost won the Gold, and if you ask me, the clock does not lie. I had nothing to do with this filing, and neither did my coach Mike Bottom. This is just another attack on my coach who has done never wronged anyone in swimming, except coach foreign athletes (non-Americans) to Olympic medals. You all have to understand that any coach would have done this for their swimmer if there were any possibility of error, but I’m sorry to disappoint, it was my Olympic committee and swimming staff who did the filing. We’re not “sour grapes” and we’re not “pissed”… If you ask me, it should be accepted and we should move on. I’ve accepted defeat, and there’s nothing wrong with losing to the greatest swimmer there has ever been.

4.So what now? People, this is the greatest moment of my life. I’ve finally achieved what I’ve worked so hard, and for so long to do. Let me enjoy this for a little while. I’m going back to Belgrade for a year after the Olympics. Its time to take a break and figure out the next thing to do!

    So, story is closed now

  5. Phelps won.

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multime...

As you can see by that, Cavic extended his arms while Phelps took the extra stroke. It is this that cost Cavic the gold. Oh, and the officials slowed the replay down to 1/10,000 of a second, and even the Serbians said Phelps won.

  6. They decided to judge it based on the clock and not the cameras.

I read it in the paper today, and they said that they were .01 seconds off, but Phelps really won.

  7. I really think Phelps won, when they show replays.

1/100th of a second is sooo close, that it's almost impossible to notice a difference.

I don't think they will overrule it!

  8. Phelps won http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multime... question answered.

  9. Milorad Cavic!!!!

There are many reasons why he accepted defeat:

    1. Phelps needed that gold to make a history

    2. Cavic was born and raised in CA

    3. He already have problems with Swimming Assoc. because of "Kosovo is Serbia" t-shirt

    4. Cavic now knows that he can beat Phelps anytime, and that World Championship in Rome is just around the corner where he'll beat him not for 0.01, but for min. 10 seconds!

    5. He is a GREAT MAN, something that Michael Phelps, after accepting this gold medal, can never be!

    Go Cavic!

  10. Cavic won.  The camera doesn't lie.  Cavic clearly touched first.  It's a conspiracy being orchestrated by the Olympic committee.  It's also important to keep in mind that the real victim here is Mark Spitz.  SEVEN gold medals and SEVEN olympic records.  Phelps can't touch that.  Stachin', b*****s.

  11. phelps definly won. by like a hundredth of a second. he already got gold medal anyways.GO MICHAEL!

  12. They are just trying to tell a big story about Mihcael Phelps, but today we saw who is faster!

    EXCELLENT WORK MILORAD CAVIC!!!

    YOU ARE THE BEST!!!

    GLORY TO SERBIA!!!

  13. i'm sure cavic won!

of course phelps is american and so he had to win... in your eyes serbia is nothing but america is everything...

if there was any other swimmer instead phelps it would say that cavic won... he just had bad luck for being serbian...

  14. It's very simple. The one who hit the touch pad first is the winner. It's just too bad for Cavic even if it seems to the naked eye that is the winner. Just blame himself for having shorter fingers. A win is a win and it is clear with the use of technology, that Phelps is the winner.  Give him a break as he has more medals to win.

Looks like phelps touched first to me.

  16. Michael Phelps

  17. I really can't judge from TV.  However there just could be a possibility that Cavic did not touch the sensor pad hard enough. Anyway, Phelps didn't finished first during the heats for this category (100m Butterfly) and there goes alot of rumours after that...

  18. Phelps did. 3 reasons.

    1. the plus' are touch pads

    2. the underwater slow mo was a clear view of the win

    3. the 2 old chinese men and the abacus showed a clear win.

    Hope this helps!

    I AM A PHELPS PHAN!

  19. Cavic won,its clear.

Just watch photos. One frame between 4th and 5th is missing:

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multime...

But Phelps is American and he had to win,so its not surprising they stole gold medal from Cavic.

  20. If you look at the slow-mo playback, you notice that Cavic has his hand and fingers pulled back. He didn't extend it. But Phelps has his hand and fingers extended to the max.

It was so a very close match between the two of them. The timer don't lie

  21. Micheal Pheleps. :D 1 more gold medal to go.

  22. Phelps!!!!!!! Of course.

  23. Michael Phelps, obvs. I don't care what anyone claims that they saw. Those are touch-sensitive pads, so everyone needs to get over it. It's electronic.

  24. Cavic, but it's too late now.they just gave the medal to Phelps.

This is the  what the press has done with OBAMA,they have preordained him president.as with Phelps they are going to make sure he wins every GOLD MEDAL.

    Isn't life FAIR?
