Was there no way to evacuate these poor souls, and what's the difference between a hurricane and a cyclone?

  1. They had a waring from the India Meterological Station in Mumbai two days before the cyclone hit. Just like the English Government in October 1989, they chose to ignore the warning.

  2. Anyone in myanmar would never call it that, call it burma.  Myanmar is the b*****d government name for the country, burma is the original name of the country.  The majority of the money (over 90%) goes to military spending, and the civilians are not allowed to bear arms.  The quality of life in Burma is severely controlled rather violently by the government...which literally is the army.

The government/army couldn't give a d**n about the people.  They murder, torture, etc the citizens of Burma on a regular basis, so I doubt they would have any qualms about them dying in a cyclone.

Believe me, the intelligent, kind people of Burma would have already left the country if they could.  The government will only let certain people in and out of the country...it's not a friendly situation.  The government of Burma also only accepts donations/aid from other countries that they personally can distribute.  They declined physical help from France and the US, and accepted monetary donations from the US and I believe UN...so yay, more bombs, tanks, and guns for the government of Burma with minimal help for the victims (who can't retaliate because they have no arms).

Also, just as a p.s., the leader that the people voted for, a female to introduce democracy to the country who won the election, has been in government controlled house detention for about 16 years now.
