  1. No.  If they wanted to die, all they'd have to do is pop open the hatch.


  2. They carried somethng much more lethal, Tang. No, really i've never heard of that unless aliens would be interrogating them.

  3. No.  Reporters once asked Jim Lovell (of Apollo 13) if he had a cyanide capsule, and he said no, since opening the hatch is far easier anyway.

    However, Soviet astronaut Alexey Leonov said he had a cyanide capsule inside his helmet when he did his historic spacewalk.  However, this probably wasn't something mandated by the state.
