Did Nani deserve to be sent off?

Nani was sent off against Aston Villa last night for a two-footed challenge – was this deserved?

It was a rather foolish challenge to make. Any two-footed challenge is very unlikely to go unpunished in this day and age and the Portuguese winger made the tackle right in front of the referee. Although there were questions over whether or not he won the ball, the fact is, he definitely went through the Villa player – Stiliyan Petrov.
