  1. I don't know if Nastia deserves the gold or not because the chinese did a good job as well.  However, I am not satisfied with the procedure they used.  Like Alexi said, the way they did it narrowed it down to three judges that could be totally inexperienced or bias.  And why is it difficult to give two gold medals?  If two swimmers end up with the same time, how will they give out the medals there?

  2. Nastia to me, was the better performer. She had so FEW mistakes, and stuck her landing, and was just beautiful!

Whoever that Chinese girl was, sure, she had some nice releases and whatnot, but she made SO MANY more mistakes!

They had the same start value, Nastia did the better job, it's obvious. She deserved the Gold Medal, hands down.

  3. Nastia should have won gold. They were more errors in He performance such as the handstand not being vertical. And that a lot of point off. Nastia didn't have major error

  4. In before all the losers who are going to defend China and the judges

  5. I actually thought the bronze girl did better than both, even the commentators didn't say much in way of deductions.

But she's Chinese. and Nastia... is American.

So IMO. Nastia deserved a tied silver, or a bronze.

    Get over it folks.

Also, I wonder if all these people who say Nastia had a much better routine actually know anything about gymnastics or are simply repeating what the commentators said? Mindless sheep.

  6. Dual Gold. It's unfair. IOC sucks for implementing the stop non-Dual Gold rule in 1997. Shame on them.

Nastia's routine as she didn't put her feet together and I can see that her feet was crooked but stuck her landing.

He's routine was fine until she crossed her feet with her landing.

He got .933 deductions and Nastia got .966 He wins.

  7. gold that was F*** up that they gave her a sliver because they both the same score!!! i was p**s when i saw that

  8. Yep. Give them both Gold. Both did an amazing job.

  9. I don't know why the IOC changed the rules and instituted a "tie-breaker" in the first place. I say if its a tie...give them both the gold. They both did an excellent job. Now when it comes out that He is actually 14, her medals and accomplishments should be stripped and she should be banned from any other competitions. Just as all cheaters should be!

  10. I wold have give a dual gold medal to both, that is the only fair way.

  11. how about the question:

Does an underage performer deserve a medal period??

look at this picture and tell me these freaking little girls are older than 16.. i will slap you if you do..

these girls haven't even gotten their periods yet. this is ridiculous.

    communist china

  12. She got robbed! She should of gotten gold!!! The look on her face was a killer.. heart breaking. She worked so hard and to be stripped away from a medal you deserve when they both tied! Its just crazy!

  13. If she did the same things, had the same level of difficulty and posted the same score as the gold medal winner, then Nastia deserves gold.

same effort should achieve the same result.

  14. USA voted in favor of the new system of scoring, when a tiebreaker occurs.  Now don't whine and cry.  Unless USA regrets on voting in the new system?

  15. It has nothing to do with the "tie break" just as the announcer said. The score should have come down to the dismount since all else was equal and Nastia's was perfect while He's was obviously flawed. Nastia was not upset about the tiebreaker deal. She knew she should have won outright. It was all over her face, and her father's.

She deserved gold. Watch it again. It comes down to the dismount, not the tie-breaker rules.

  16. i find the east european judges sucks......they always kiss Liukin's ***

  17. Tough call. The girl who won bronze did very well also. Bet you wouldn't think the tiebreak procedure was complete garbage if she had won first, huh.

  18. Neither

  19. Gold because her routine is much more aesthetically pleasing, smooth, and she stuck the landing.

  20. Yes, I agree the tiebreaker is garbage.  Give them both the same medal.

I do not agree with everyone else that Nastia or even the eventual gold medalist should have won gold.

Why is that? Well, go back and listen to Tim Daggett's comments during the routines of the three medalists. For the Chinese gold winner, he points out "wow a major deduction" and a fault on the landing. For Nastia, he points out a leg separation and another major deduction in which he says she is "nowhere near vertical" and "if the judges want to they could take off a lot".

For the other Chinese gymnast (who gets third and has the same start value), they only point out one minor deduction. She sticks her landing and both commentators mention that she's scored huge numbers throughout the Games but this was the by far the best performance she's done.

Go back and watch the three performances again and listen to the commentators. Just based on that, I do not believe Nastia was cheated in this particular contest. I do believe the third and first place gymnasts order was off.

  21. Neither.

I think Nastia's A score was a little bit too high for what she actually did. There were very few release elements and none required the level of skill that both He and Tweddle did. Most of it was pirouettes and handstands, which He, Yulin and Tweddle also did.

If anyone was ripped off, it was Tweddle's A score. Go back and watch it again and tell me that Nastia did ANYTHING anywhere near as remotely difficult as that. You simply can't. Either Tweddles was higher than 7.8, or Nastia's should be nowhere near 7.7.

The A score is unfortunately designed in such a way that it is still awarding mediocrity.

  22. Here is how He Kexin of China and Olympic all-around champion Nastia Liukin finished with the same score on the uneven bars but different medals:

WHERE IT STARTS: Liukin and He each scored a 16.725. They had identical 7.7 start values (the measure of a routine’s difficulty) and 9.025 execution scores. The execution mark is based on the perfect 10.0 scale, and is arrived at by tossing out the highest and lowest of the six judges’ marks, and averaging the remaining four.

THE FIRST TIE-BREAK: The four deductions that counted are added together and averaged. He and Liukin were still tied.

THE SECOND TIE-BREAK: The three-lowest deductions are added together and averaged. He had .933 in deductions and Liukin had .966, meaning He had .033 less in deductions—and was declared the winner.

In my opinion, I just think Nastia deserve to get the bronze medal. Her performance even worse than another China player
