Did Nike ever produce their product in the US?

When did they decide to outsource and when?? Did they even begin in the US?? I can't seem to find much about it anywhere??

The original shoes were made by Bill Bowerman in the US. Being a track coach for University of Oregon, he was simply trying to make a shoe that his star runner (steve prefontaine) that would allow him to run faster and perform better.  Nike really got its start by  distributing Onitsuka Tiger shoes from Japan out of a car trunk at track meets.
