  1. They offered to allow him to fly his plane in to the hospital area, a offer seldom made for politicians, and they would provide camera personal to take appropriate pictures with the approval of the wounded soldiers. No politicians are allowed to take more than one staff member, and no news media photographers are ever allowed. So the Pentagon made two major concessions to try and accommodate his visit.

  2. huffington post?? eeeee hahahaha

obamby was not denied visitation to the injured troops.  his media circus was denied.

  3. The military does their own photos.  What they didn't allow was his campaign personnel to join him.  He was more than Welcome to attend as a senator, and up until the point he cancelled, he was expected.  It's common practice on the military's part to avoid politicization of the service.

  4. The *Pentagon* decided it would be a "campaign stop", instead of simply allowing a US Senator to visit with the troops.

The last time I checked, the guy who runs the Pentagon works for Bush.

Seems to me his plans were sabotaged.

  5. Commander-in-chief want to see only big rallies.

Anyway, in 16 months there will be 1 or 2 brigades out from iraq and the rest will be residual forces required for Iraq.

  6. All he would have had to do is tell the press and media to  go somewhere and get lost for awhile, and go in ALONE , and just shake a few hands and say "Hi, I;'m Barack Obama."

THAT would have been the classy thing to do.

WTF, is he afraid of, Gen Petreaus would give him an Article 15??? Or can't he even take a leak without it turning  into a media event??????

  7. Yep, you got it straight.  That's exactly what happened.  Sad huh?

  8. Um, actually, you've got this entire story wrong. Obama had a visit scheduled to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in western Germany, as traveling senators often do, but the Pentagon notified him the day before that the visit would be viewed as a campaign event. He had visited troops in Iraq and Afghanistan with the congressional delegation, but after those visits his Senate staff returned to the U.S., and in Germany Obama had only his campaign staff with him. When he learned the trip would be viewed as a campaign event, he canceled it. An adviser said, "Senator Obama did not want to have a trip to see our wounded warriors perceived as a campaign event when his visit was to show his appreciation for our troops and decided instead not to go."

I have no idea where you got your information but I'm amazed you had the story so entirely backwards. He canceled the trip in order to keep partisan campaigning out of the military base, not because he wouldn't be getting a photo-op out of it.

Please double-check the facts before you call a man "despicable".

  9. The Pentagon said the visit would be inappropriate because it was a campaign stop and not an official Senate visit.  Pictures had nothing to do with it.  FOXNews made that up.  (And you should feel a little silly for believing it.)

  10. Obama is just like the movie stars making a donation,

they don't do it unless their camera crew is there.
