Even though Steve Forbes was not much of a challenge he has a good chin and good speed. ODLH looked like he was a young warrior again in dominating Forbes. His speed and accuracy were incredible. And he didnt fade like past fights he kept coming all 12 rounds. Im impressed were u? And what u think will happen in his rematch with Mayfeather?

  1. Oscar looked pretty good against a fast and crafty fighter. I hope Oscar's new relaxing techniques will keep him from fading in the late rounds against Floyd 'One and done' Mayweather. For the first time ever, Oscar actually had his hands open and relaxed between punches.

  2. I think Oscar looked younger and smarter.  He used his height advantage and his jab.  The knockout was not there and he didn't press trying to force it.  For the first time I can remember he finished strong, maybe because he was more relaxed than he has been -- and that has less to do with the opponent than with the fighter himself.

Sure Oscar hand-picked Forbes.  Any fighter looking ahead to a huge match or rematch who wants a tune-up is going to pick someone he "knows" he can beat, but someone who can also help him prepare for the fighter he's going to face.  Forbes did both.  The boxing record books are full of guys who picked opponents they "knew" they could beat. Mike Tyson "knew" he could beat Buster Douglas, Sonny Liston "knew" he could beat Cassius Clay, etc.

Oscar's power isn't gone.  It just wasn't available tonight.

Mayweather is not Steve Forbes, but he is smaller than Oscar.  If Oscar uses his height and his jab, and is prepared to go 12 strong rounds, he will have a good chance of winning the rematch with Floyd.  I would have to bet on Floyd, but I would love to see Oscar beat him.  DLH did well in the early part of their fight, but he faded in the latter part.  He wasted too much energy.  I expect him to be smarter next time.

Oscar did a good job of looking ahead to Mayweather without looking past Forbes.  He looked really good tonight.

  3. If Oscar & Steve were the same size physically, it would have been a much more comparable fight. I don't know that the outcome would be any different but Oscar was to tall, heavy & strong. He looked in better shape but again he was supposed look good against a small guy. Thats all it was.

  4. De La Hoya looked much younger than his previous fights. It was of the weight loss. His speed and stamina definitely  returned but the power just didn't quite make it.

  5. I got to give DeLa Hoya credit, in the 12th round he had bounce in his legs, he was working his jab and he impressed the day lights out of me.  He still has the ability to beat 90% of the fighters out there.  I think he took a lot of shots that years ago he would have slipped, but Forbes was hand picked because of his lack of power, so Oscar suffered a scratch on the nose and a mouse instead of busting up against a heavier handed fighter, but all in all Oscar looked good, he seemed in better condition, more relaxed and much more fit than when he gassed against Floyd.

Oscar looked good, but good isn't enough against Floyd, and Oscar will lose another decision against Mayweather if they fight again.    I truly hope a second Mayweather/DeLa Hoya fight doesn't happen, it's a waste of time, nobody, myself included really want's to see another one of those with fights like Cotto, Margarito and Clottey out there.  That said, we get what they give us, not what we want.

  6. looks like dlh is back. he finished strong like he use to. he will improve on the second mayweateher fight but floyd will also imnprove

  7. That is how he fight when he is confident against a hand pick opponent. He picked him so he must know he can beat him. I want Oscar to win against Floyd but it is a toss up between the two.

  8. I thought he did look good and will have a better shot at beating floyd, but i dont think he has that big knockout punch, he has better speed and a good style but his power was not there as it used to be, his stamina was good but he was relaxed because forbes isnt a puncher, de la hoya was impressive but i was expecting KO and now that he didnt i dont think he has the power to hurt floyd, therefore i think floyd will prevail again in a more exciting fight but another decision win for pretty boy floyd.

  9. did DLH win?
