Question:

Did Pacquiao get tired due to inadequate endurance training or due to heavier weight class?

Could you settle an argument for me concerning the recent Marquez-Pacquiao fight? My friend claims that Pacquiao looked tired in the late rounds of the fight. He attributed Pacquiao's fatigue due to "inadequate endurance training."

I attributed Pacquiao's late-round fatigue more to the fact that he is fighting at a heavier weight and class than what his natural weight is accustomed to. Isn't boxing history replete with examples of great fighters experiencing difficulty whenever they move up in class?Another thing is that Pacquiao has always been in tremendous shape in all of his fights. So don't you think my friend is just talking out of his you-know-what when he blames Pacquiao for inadequate endurance training?

  1. He looked tentative because marquez could counter his **** and a bit too excited which may contributed to his fatigue(he kept ******* smiling for christ sake). I think when he tried to finish marquez he was so excited that adrenaline may have worked him out.

  2. Huh!?!! Pacquiao is like an energizer bunny. He could fight all night long.

  3. HE IS TIRED

He dehydrated himself to just to be able to squeeze through 130lbs. He's got that chiselled look and well carved muscles during the weigh in. But on the fight night, he looked puffed and chubby.

"Squeezing" normally takes a major toll on the fighter's body in terms of endurance and stamina.

  4. The first 2 rounds were won by Marquez's counter punches that woke Pacquiao up and forced him to change his strategy.  In the third round Manny nearly had 2 knockdowns but the second one was saved by the bell.  Manny slowed down in the later rounds due to the accidental headbutt and the cut over his eye and the fact that Marquez never gave up.  As for his weight well they said that he re-hydrated to around 146 for the fight night.  So that really shouldn't be a factor as to why he was "tired".

Marquez-Pacquiao was a great fight probably the best fight of the year.  Both deserve the credit for going the full 12 rounds and there should be no excuses as to why one was favored over the other by the judges.  It was too close to call!

  5. his geting older hes just in his downfall now. he no longer have the energy and speed he had 4 years ago when he fought marquez the first time

  6. Baloney.  Marquez deserved the decision.  Pacquiao was tired because Marquez beat him for 8-9 of the 12 rounds. THAT is why he was tired.  Pacquaio fans are in serious denial.

  7. I agree that it's not due to inadequate endurance training.  Pacquiao is probably the hardest training fighter we have here today and he never comes to the ring out of shape.  But neither was it due to the heavier weight class because the recent Marquez fight was still fought at 130 lbs., where Pacquiao has been campaigning for the past 3 years.  Fact is, Manny has outgrown the superfeatherweight division and is ready to move up to lightweight (135) to face David Diaz.  But as of his last fight with Marquez, he's at still at 130, which is his natural weight at the moment.

I think Pacquiao got tired because he was fighting a very tough and busy fighter who gave him h**l for all 12 rounds.  Marquez just didn't stop punching, throwing 'em from all angles and surprising Pacman in the process.  Manny's not used to being hit and I believe that he also felt Marquez punches and kinda slowed down as a result.  He's just to proud not to admit it.
