In the March 2008 Issue of National Geographic, there is a article about Polynesian expansion titled "Pioneers of the Pacific". The article makes it pretty clear that Pacific Islanders reached Chile and Peru. I'm confused and curious about the claim that they reached Mexico as well. In their Article they have maps of their Voyages and there's an arrow that points to Mexico and unlike the other arrows it says "Polynesians might have reached Mexico". I tried to research the claim and I looked up the writers of the articles and have found no reason why they have made that claim. Any help?

  1. The archaeoogist/anthropologist Michael Coe wrote something about it in his book "Mexico".  It had something to do with patterns in the texture of ceramics but that all happened so long ago its hard for me to remember.

  2. yes they did
