Did Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 Rage its way to the top of the PlayStation 3 sales charts?
FIFA 12’s impressive sales have left other titles in its wake as the football simulation game has broken the record for the highest number of sales in its opening few days of any EA Sports title in history.
However, if any game can top that feat one can rest assured that Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 is that one game. Yet, did Konami’s footy simulation live up to expectations or did FIFA 12 hold on to its crown?
10. Gran Turismo 5: after making a late comeback into the top 10, Gran Turismo 5 seems to be on its way down again as the spell of Kazunori Yamauchi’s Spec 2.0 update is starting to wear off. Nonetheless, one can expect the game to continue
to sell, just not at the staggering figures it once did.
9. Deus Ex: Human Revolution: It seems that finding the ‘Missing Link’ DLC pack has not done enough to prevent Square Enix’s genre defining title from slipping further down the charts. However, Deus Ex has done its job and given a new generation
of gamers a taste of one of gaming’s heroes.
8. Ace Combat: Assault Horizon: dubbed the Call of Duty of aircraft combat, Ace Combat: Assault Horizon has not lived up to the staggering sales figures of the game it bears the burden of comparison to. Yet, at the same time no one really
expected it to. However, a debut in the top 10 positions is never a bad thing.
7. Resistance 3: Joseph Capelli stars in the final chapter of the Resistance trilogy in what was a fitting fare well to one of the PlayStation 3’s stand out series.
6. Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge: The Rugby World Cup is nearing its climax, and after Wales were ousted in the semi-finals, it seems that the people of the United Kingdom have turned to purchasing copies of Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge to show
which side they will be supporting in the France versus New Zealand final.
5. F1 2011: the game may have debuted at the number one spot; however, since then the game has embarked on a slow but steady fall down the charts.
4. Dark Souls: the spiritual successor to the original PlayStation 3 exclusive, Demon’s Souls, the second game of the series has won critics over and seems to have fans interested enough to purchase a copy of the challenging yet addictively
immersive action role-playing-game.
3. Rage: Bethesda will be pleased with a top three debut, especially when it sees the pedigree of the titles it lost out to.
2. Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 and 1. FIFA 12: Things seem back to normal in the United Kingdom as the top two best selling games for the previous weeks were both football simulation titles. However, Konami will be slightly disappointed that
their title did not do enough to knock FIFA 12 off its perch; in terms of sales at least.
