  1. `Saxe-Coburg and Gotha`, but, was of `The House of Wettin`, they changed it to `Windsor` in 1917 as it was just a little too German for British tastes after WW1.

So the current British Monarch is from `The House of Windsor` or Mountbatten-Windsor if they are descendents of H.M.Queen Elizabeth II.

EDIT: Oh here we go again..ha ha..thumbs down for a 100% correct answer with links !

`Phone her and ask for yourself then...

  2. Queen Elizabeth the first was called "Elizabeth Tudor" and her daughter, HM  Queen Elizabeth II is called "Elizabeth Windsor".

  3. Sorry they were all just b*****d sons that had the hind site to make everyone believe that their blood was special and people actually believe it even they do now. Funny isn't it.

  4. Yeah, her last name is elizabeth. First name is Queen. DUH!

  5. The real surname of Queen Elizabeth II is Wettin. She was a direct descent from the House of Wettin. However, high anti-German feeling among the people during World War I prompted the Royal Family to abandon all titles held under the German crown and to change German-sounding titles and house names (Wettin) for English-sounding versions (Windsor). On 17 July, 1917, a royal proclamation by George V provided that all agnatic descendants of Queen Victoria would be members of the House of Windsor with the personal surname of Windsor. The name Windsor has a long association with English royalty through the town of Windsor and Windsor Castle.

After Queen Elizabeth II's marriage to Prince Philip Mountbatten, she officially announced that all their royal descendants will use the surname of Mountbatten-Windsor. When Prince Charles becomes King, he will be the first monarch to establish the House of Mountbatten-Windsor.

  6. Royals really don't have last names like non-royals but Royal House Names.Elizabeth of The Royal House of Tudor, for Elizabeth I. Elizabeth II is Elizabeth of The Royal House of Winsdor, which was originally Saxe-Coburg-Gotha,but changed during World War I,after the bombing of London by 24 twin-engined GOTHA war planes!Elizabeth was never a Battenberg;that is one of her husband's names. He was first Schlessweig-Holstein-

    Sonderburg-Glucksburg,

    then Battenbeg,then Mountbatten.

These name changes were in response to anti-German sentiments caused by World War I.

  7. she lookes like a swanson to me. got that swanson mouth...

  8. Titled royalty do not have surnames.

However, Queen Elizabeth I was a Member of the House of Tudor (her grandfather before came to the throne was Henry Tudor - later Henry VII)

Queen Elizabeth II is a member of the House of Windsor, all her children use the Surname Mountabtten-Windsor when they need to (for instance Marriger certificates) as Mountbatten was their father's surname after he became a naturalised British Citizen (before that he was titled royalty).

If you mean the late Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, her maiden name was Bowes-Lyon, then she became titled royalty (First Duchess of York, then Queen Consort and finally Queen Mother).

  9. Elizabeth Tudor and Elizabeth Windsor.

    best of luck to you!

  10. Queen Elizabeth the First was Elizabeth Tudor.

Queen Elizabeth the Second is Elizabeth Windsor (it was  Battenburg, and was changed during WWI because it was considered too 'German').

Monarchs don't usually use surnames, but those are the 'Royal Houses' or families of each.

    Cheers :-)
