Did Rage or Dark Souls knock FIFA 12 off the top of the Xbox 360 Charts in United Kingdom?
Gears of War 3 had a record breaking opening weekend in the Xbox 360 charts on its debut week. However, celebrations were cut short as FIFA 12 not only emulated Gears of War 3, but it took the term, ‘successful opening week’ to an entire new level.
With two of gaming’s heavyweight franchises taking off in such strong fashion, it would be interesting to see if Bethesda’s first person shooter, Rage, can claim top spot for its own on its opening weekend, especially with Dark Souls debuting at the same
time.
10. Rugby World Cup 2011: it seems that the craze surrounding the sport’s biggest event is finally dying down and with it, so are the sales for its licensed video game tie-in.
9. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine: easily surpassing the target set by its publisher in the title of the game, Warhammer 40,000 is slowly fading away into the dark abyss that is not the top-10, as it dropped another couple of places in
the chart.
8. NBA 2K12: Take 2 ought to be proud of their basketball simulation title, as it spends another week in the top tier of the charts, yet, one has to worry about its survival here as it is already at a lowly eight place so soon after its
release.
7. Deus Ex: Human Revolution: referred to by many as the example every studio should follow when bringing a franchise back to life, Deus Ex still has everyone wanting a piece of it as it holds on to the number seven spot.
6. Dead Island: Island Paradise? Check. Group of friends? Check. Zombies? Check. Good time? Check. Need anyone say more?
5. F1 2011: moving on to the top five now and F1 2011 may not have the pole position anymore, but Codemasters’ superb take on the racing phenomenon has more than a few gamers dishing out their hard earned money for a copy of the game.
4. Dark Souls: the first of the two debutants and it seems that some fans were not comfortable enough with the game’s reputation of being ridiculously difficult, as it settles for number four.
3. Gears of War 3: in the game position as the number in its title, Gears of War 3 fell down another spot this past week, albeit, anger had something to do with it.
2. FIFA 12 & 1. Rage: EA Sports had an incredible opening week, yet Xbox 360 users are attracted to first person shooter like bees to honey and this obsession with looking down the barrel of a gun was enough to secure Bethesda’s title the
top spot.
