Did Rommel really lose at El Alamein because his tanks ran out of fuel?

  1. yes,  that was one of the factors.  he was also out manned and the allies had more tanks then him.  allies also controlled the skies.


  2. im not sure if that was the exact cause but it was definately because of a lack of supplies so, it may have been the lack of fuel

  3. yes.  in most historians opinion at least.  Hitler was sending all the fuel to the russian front and most of the fuel that Rommel had was captured fuel.  The Germans' bewegungskrieg tactics required fuel because it was based on movement and allow them to follow up on attacks.

    Rommel hadn't received any fuel for weeks prior, combine that with the low surplus fuel they had due to a large part of previous shipments of  from europe being sunk by the British in the sea
