Did Saturday night prove that MMA is nowhere near as entertaining as boxing?

Almost 3 hours of coverage for about 12 mintes of action. I know people are saying Kimbo didnt deserve the coverage, but honestly, it wouldn't have mattered who was in the ring. 2 men wrestling on the ground for 4 minutes isnt entertaining at all. Give me boxing anyday.

  1. No, it just proves that the sport is still very young and that a major network like CBS has no clue how to cover it properly.

  2. MMA is NOT my sport. It's way too violent and vicious for my taste.

I agree with you, by the time the main event happened I was bored to death because of all that talking made by the commentators and NO action. 3 hours is a lot for only  20 minutes of action. Boring Fight NIGHT!!!

  3. LIke i said before, When Kimbo Slice is the Top Dog in your sport it is heading downhill....YOu will never see an internet sideshow act ever become a Boxing Star but MMA has proven anyone with messed up ears can do it... There is really no skill involved in MMA besides wrestling and anyone saying Wrestling and submission moves are more exciting than GOing Toe to Toe till someone drops is freaking crazy....

  4. i can see why boxing is bigger,in one sec of MMA one wrong move you can get tapout or submitted, boxing is  all striking skills and you have to be good to win

  5. Boxing is much more entertaining than mma, not as much men rollin around on the ground hugging :P

  6. I'm a much bigger Boxing fan then Mixed Martial Arts but I like Martial Arts too. From a entertainment standpoint though Mixed Martial Arts is not more exciting then Boxing. It's what you said...the fights are extremely short and consist of wrestling half the time. There will never be fights in Mixed Martial Arts like Marvin Hagler vs. Thomas Hearns, Arturo Gatti vs. Mickey Ward, Erik Morales vs. Marco Antonio Barrera, etc. all because the fights inevitably go to the ground and become a technical grapple match. A fight fan won't care or appreciate that (unless he/she happens to train in something like JuJitsu), he/she wants to see knockouts. I just don't understand why Mixed Martial Arts fans get hostile when you point it out. It's not a knock on their sport, it's just the truth, but I guess the fact it's kind of a fad at the moment explains why they don't realize this.

  7. I think there can be boring fights in mma and boxing, Chuck Liddell Vs Wanderlai Silva was a cracker for one example.
