Question:

Did South Africa target Jason Robinson and why?

every South Africa kick up the field was aimed at Robinson so they could jump on him. Eventually he quit the field with a bloody head.

This is not a pleasant thought but was it partly because of his colour? Most of the SA team have Dutch Boer names.

Even if that was not a reason, this targetting of an individual player to get them injured MUST be stopped. It is a kind of bullying. We do not want this kind of play copied at junior level, do we?

You might report this as being an unacceptable thought but several other people have mentioned this bad attitude by SA.

  1. Correct, One only has to watch Tri Nations or Super 14 ,game after game , NZ and Aussie teams play, good fast clean games. when a SA team plays either.....Stop start, scrappy, boring games full of niggle and dirt.

Most people just wish they would join Northern Hemesphere competition, and let Argentina take their place in Tri Nations .

  2. we did because he was the only ecsperians plyer and he can be dangerous if u give him some space

and we win the cup thats south africa long live the boks!

  3. This is a fine example of the pathetic mind-set of English supporters.

What do surnames and colour have to do with a very professional rugby performance? Dutch Boer names? You poor ignoramus!

    Montgomary - English

    Habana - Malay

Pietersen - Dutch (he happens to be a so called player of colour.

    Fourie - French

    Steyn - German

    James - English

    Du Preez - French

    Roussouw - French

    Van Heerden - Dutch

    Smith - English

    Matfield - English

    Botha - French

    Du Randt - French

    Smit - German

    Botha - French

  4. You obviously have sour grapes about the way SA trashed the English with 36-0. Shame, I do feel sorry for you. And the open question is of course whether SA played that well or whether England played that shite. Besides, good players are always targeted.

And what's with the so-called "Dutch Boer names"? More than half the team's got English surnames and are English-speaking South Africans. One of SA's greatest rugby heroes is black for crying out loud! Read another poster's list of names, maybe you'll learn something.

If you want real racists, look to the Aussies...

  5. Do I detect some sour grapes from some of you? Samoa is just as physical if not worse than SA. If you guys are crying now, I can't wait to watch England vs Samoa as there has been clear indication that Samoa is not going to mince their words for the England side.

All good players are marked, on the field. Only a team who does not see the value in the opposing teams talented players would not mark them.

It is a pity that some of you feel so hard done by by the boks, but then again South Africa did beat England in the rugby and cricket 20's World Cup 2007 in a matter of three days. So I can understand your frustrations.

  6. Settle down guys!!

Can't quite believe what I'm reading here.

First of all I did not notice them targeting anybody in particular with their high kicks.

Secondly he was playing at fullback. A fullback is the most likely player to be receiving kicks.

Thirdly Robinson is an inexperienced fullback. He usually plays on the wing and it was an interesting move selecting him there. If he was targeted his inexperience would be a big factor.

Fourth point... the guy is not that tall. Would you not challenge a guy in the air if he was short? Exposing his height is sensible.

I am sick of hearing people rattle on about how dirty the boks are. Just because they are a good team you do not need to drag them down, it is pathetic.

    GO THE ABs!!!

  7. Yes they did. They are dirty dirty players.

I wouldn't put anything past them

    Look at their record

I apologise to SA fans but I wouldn't play them without taping my ears up (not to stop from getting ear rucked but to not have my ears bittin off)

    Fair comment.
