Did THN mess up?

So, as you may or may not know, I have a subscription to the hockey news. The last issue I got was the Draft Preview edition. In it, there is a small section on each team, and a "10 year draft review" which has 5 shrewd picks, and 5 not-so-shrewd picks.

Well, on Page 57, the Penguins' page... the first "Not-so-shrewd" pick is M.A.Fleury.

Thoughts? I'm not a penguins fan, and I know he hasn't been consistent until late in this season, but I don't think anyone had given up hope on him! Why would he possibly be a not-so-shrewd pick?

  1. Maybe when it was printed they might have thought Conklin was their future netminder until MAF earned his stripes.Thats why they have erasers on pencils.

    Greg-Pavel Brendl-What a BUST and former Flyer.

  2. I hate to admit this as a Penguin fan.....I was never happy to learn we had gotten MAF.......I didn't like him in the juniors, and didn't really start liking him until this year.....recently at that.

He was so over-hyped when he came up here, and didn't do what everyone said he'd do.....I know he was young, but still.....I expected more. Maybe I just had too high of expectations....

  3. I too subscribe to the hockey news. Sometimes they are way off with what they write. Once in a while they will write a story on how the screwed up. . The only other one I have noticed as questionable call in that issue is the list Di Pietro as a not too shrewed pick . He is not super, but still usable as a goalie
