I wonder if any of the Beatle's every commented on the fact that much of Charles' Manson's radicalism was derived from the music, namely "Helter Skelter".

Does anyone know of any comments any of the Beatles ever made about Charles Manson?

  1. Greetings!  I just got through reading "Helter Skelter"  (very frightening, but well written book).  The Beatles did not know anything about Manson until the Manson Family Trial in 1970.

Essentially, Manson was dismissed as outright quackery but it was done in such a fast and quiet manner that not much was made of it.  Of course, the Beatles at that point had all but broken up their group.

BTW, Susan Atkins, one of the Manson girls, was up for a compassionate parole release today.  It appears she has brain cancer, has had a leg amputated and has some form of paralysis on one side of her body.  She probably will not live to see the end of this year.

She was turned down for the 12th time.

Just thought I would throw that in.

    Hope this helps.  Take care.

  2. They denied any association with him.  I'm pretty sure of this, as in general, an artist is not responsible for how a listener might interpret his work.

  3. Although some in the media tried to get the Beatles to comment on the connection between their music and Charles Manson, they never did, at least while still together.
