Did The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim finally topple Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in the sales charts?
The marketing department at Bethesda, in an obvious effort to boost sales of their latest title, have slashed the prices of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim but has the move been enough to knock the seemingly unstoppable Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 off from
the top of the sales charts?
Here is the United Kingdom’s overall software sales chart for the previous week:
10. Mario Kart 7: an enjoyable party game experience blending the best features of the previous games in the series, Mario Kart 7 manages to hold on to a top ten spot for yet another week. However, whether or not we will be talking about
it in seven days time is a different story altogether.
9. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception: such a lowly finish in the overall charts for Uncharted 3 may seem a bit of a shock for some, yet gamers need only remember the fact that the game is console exclusive and for it to stay in the overall
charts as long as it has is a testament to the game’s quality.
8. Saints Row: The Third: the United Kingdom is still enjoying the wacky, over-the-top take on the open world sandbox experience as Saints Row: The Third continues to do business in the charts, albeit at a much slower pace than earlier.
7. Professor Layton and the Spectre’s Call: the second and final Nintendo title in the top ten spots is the elaborately named and equally challenging game that we here at Bettor.com call PLATS-C.
6. Battlefield 3: the game that series Electronic Arts return to its true Battlefield roots after the two Bad Company off-shoots, Battlefield 3 is not only matching EA’s expectations but it is also exceeding them as well with an impressive
tally when it comes to sales.
5. Assassin’s Creed: Revelations: the game has finally slipped out of the top three as its sales began to slow down after a furious opening few weeks which saw Revelations break the sales record for Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series.
4. FIFA 12: another game that has finally slipped out a top three spot is the latest instalment in EA Sports’ best-selling franchise, the football simulation game everyone knows and loves: FIFA 12. Any sale the game makes now is sure to
do nothing else but add to the publisher’s profits.
3. Just Dance 3: not being a fan of rhythm games here at Bettor.com, we best keep our mouths shut on this one so as not to pay any undue disrespect.
2. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3: so there it is, Modern Warfare 3 is no longer at the top of the charts in the United Kingdom anymore as
1. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim takes the top spot after some shrewd marketing.
