Did The Movie Planes Trains and Automobiles...?

Did it make anyone else cry? Not with laughter and happiness but sadness.

I did. I like the guy that Candy played and when it said he didn't have a home, I burst into tears. I thought that someone that nice (and well annoying) would not have a house.

Does anyone else feel this way?

  1. I didn't burst into tears, but i was saddened by the comment

  2. Yes, it made me cry too. But then, John Candy often moved me to tears in his "comedic" roles. So you can imagine the effect of "Only The Lonely" ... I've seen it half a dozen times and still blubber my way through it.

  3. I got sad, don't remember if I cried, the first time I watched it and Steve Martin's character was putting the clues together about John Candy's wife and everything, with the voiceovers of things he said. I think the music playing is supposed to make you cry.

If you really pay attention to movies, they play music that actually tells you how to feel. It's part of the (more and more accurate) assumption that American moviegoers are too stupid to know how to respond to a movie.  (of course I'm not saying you are, in case you took it that way)
