  1. No

" The original two blade electrical plug and socket were invented by Harvey Hubbell and patented in 1904. Other manufacturers adopted the Hubbell pattern and by 1915 they were"

The name for the screwin socket on a lamp is an Edison socket.  Edison's research lab did everything from inventing a light bulb that would survive to installng the dynamos and wiring in New Jersey and New York (he favored DC, which lost out due to transmission voltage level change problems)

The need for an outlet and plug would be based on portable appliances including lamps.

This company uses the term but has flat blades in line

  2. Google that one...

I think it was quite some time after electricity's discovery before outlets were invented. I think initially... if you wanted a lamp... you had to call an electrician to INSTALL it right into your wall or wherever you wanted it... man we have it good...

  3. that is a very good question I am going to look it up. What caught my eye was the fact that Edison  had a lot of men working for him but he got all the credit. the outlets in modern times were 2 holes but later the became 3 for the grounding i just looked it up in wiki(electrical outlets history) at first only lamps were hooked to the electrical system so as appliances (electrical) you removed the bulb and screwed in the outlet where the bulb was. This is a super duper question I don't know why I never thought of it!!!
