Question:

Did Tito Ortiz get screwed in his decision with Machida?

This was a very close fight I think. I think Machida ran for the best portion of this fight. Tito should of got credit for pressing the action and trying to make a fight of it. I thought Tito won the first 4 minutes of round one before Machida got the takedown and definitely stole round one. But round two Tito was clearly the aggressor while Machida often was running and I thought Tito won round two simply by being the agressor, granted neither fighter did much damage. I thought Tito won the first 4 minutes of round 3 before Machida hit Tito with that big kidney shot but I thought that kidney shot could of been cancelled out by the triangle and near submission by Tito. I thought it was possible a judge could have scored it 29-28 for Tito. I wasn't surprised Machida won a decision but 30-27 on all 3 scorecards was b*llSh*t. And Rogan and the other announcer were clearly biased against Tito Ortiz. I'm shouting conspiracy. Did anyone see it differently? My rant is done.

  1. Tito proved what he is,,,, a bigmouthed hasbeen,,,, he disrupted a press thing by barging in,,,,then stayed cuz his slampig wife TOLD him to,,,, Machida won,,,, tito aint @#$@ anymore,,,, as far as the mentalmidget that said "UFC wouldent be anything without tito",,, your a moron,,, UFC had a ton of stars back then,,,tito was just the loudest and devoid of class and that made him a storyline,,, yea he WAS a bmf at one time but those days are loooooong gone,,, he was given the chance to shut Dana up in the ring but backed out like the ho he is,,,   he just mad his wife has the McDonalds sign over there bed -> OVER 2,000,000,000 SERVED

  2. Now I am no Machida fan.  Like most people I think he is probably one of the most boring fighters to date.  In fact I called in Machida Unanimous decision when I was watching it.  Why you ask?  Becuase that is what he does.

I do not think its wrong, he is a great hit and run fighter.  I personally think its great he sticks to that style no matter how many fans boo him.  I think that shows he has real dedication and now matter how boring he is he probably should be considerd for a (long awaited) title shot.

I think Tito lost, he had a chance with the triangle.  The run and gun of Machida was just to over whelming.  Machida didn't even look like he was in a fight afterwards.

  3. He did not get screwed in the decision, but maybe in the points, I would have scored it 29-28 rather then 30-27.

  4. No he wasn't. Lyoto was elusive, he wasn't running and he was hitting Tito more. Yes, Tito was aggressive but he wasn't really doing anything to impact the fight. No offense, but I can't help but think that you're just a big Tito Ortiz fan & just a little biased for him & can't accept that he lost. Face it man, Tito isn't the same guy from the past.

  5. Ortiz had me believed that the old Tito was back...hes washed up as his 0-2-1 record in his last 3 fights will show...I was a big Ortiz fan but he has fallen out of the top 10, maybe top 15 in light heavyweights in the world...hes more interested in Hollywood than winning fights right know.

  6. I don't think so. The horn saved him at the end of the first round.

  7. No conpspiracy Tito lost even though we saw new dimension to ortiz it was called fair yes Machida back pedaled but he defended as well he made good contact it would be different if Tito had pressed the action and machida fired a limited amount of shots but he fought backwards which is very hard to do if they score 10 point must  i am not sure how they scored it

The 10-point must system is a method of scoring a fighting match (e.g., boxing or mixed martial arts (MMA)) in which the judges must give the winner of a round 10 points, and the loser 9 points or fewer. A knock down usually results in a score of eight (8) for the boxer who was knocked down, and ten (10) for his or her opponent (provided, of course, the knocked-down boxer gets up before the end of the count and finishes it). A judge may occasionally award a 10 - 8 score if the round's winner is obviously dominating the other fighter. If the fight progresses through all scheduled rounds, the sum of the scores for each round are tallied for each judge to determine the winner of the match. If unable to continue the fight before that number of rounds has been fought, the fight is ruled a "no contest." If a fighter loses points by committing fouls, or a round is judged as without a clear winner, this may result in awarding an equal number of points to each fighter, so even with an odd number of rounds and an odd number of judges, draws are possible. Each foul usually costs one point, and is determined by the referee. A round that is considered a draw is usually scored as a 10 - 10 round.

    [edit] Scoring Example

In a three-round fight between Alpha and Bravo...

Judge 1 scores the rounds 10-9, 10-9, 9-9 for a final tally of 29-27 in favor of Alpha

Judge 2 scores the rounds 10-9, 9-10, 9-8 for a final tally of 28-27 in favor of Alpha

Judge 3 scores the rounds 10-8, 9-10, 9-9 for a final tally of 28-27 in favor of Alpha

...resulting in a unanimous decision for Alpha.

  8. Machida wasn't running, he was trying not to get hit.  Didn't Tito even land 5 good blows? I didn't see them.

  9. The fight wasn't close. Ortiz needed 15 stitches and probably has broken ribs. Let me get this straight. You think Ortiz deserves points for pressing action? Each time he went in Machida adjusted, not ran, and Ortiz got hurt. Did Ortiz adjust his strategy? No. Then why should he get points for failing to have a strategy? I don't know what fight you were watching but Tito was fighting himself most of the rounds, swinging at air and basically missing nearly all of the points you talk about. Had he secured the arm bar I would be praising Tito, but he didn't. In fact, he's never secured a UFC victory by submission. One thing about arm bar submissions is that if you get it, you win, if you don't, it means nothing. It doesn't even hurt the opponent once you let go. I don't see any consipiracy here. Just an old fighter who doesn't know how to adjust to a superior fighting style. You really need to watch the fight again because truth is, it was a much different fight than you say it was.

  10. Tito did not get screwed at all.  Titos problem was that he trained for an MMA fight and not a marathon.  Machida ran from Tito the entire fight.  Machida would land a few punches here and there and thats what won it for him.  I wish Machida actually had the balls to fight Tito, but I guess he knew Tito would destroy him if he tried to go toe to toe with him.  I am very disappointed that Machida who is supposed to be a great up and comer fought,"ran," the way he did.  I would never pay to see this guy ever fight again. He is very boring and scared to fight.

  11. yea, im not a fan of machidas running either, but he won cause he landed a little more the few times they exchanged, which Tito had to chase him down for... i thought the judges were crazy for givin the 2nd round to him, but ya Machida coasted to a lame win.... i couldnt beleive Tito couldnt slam lyoto, that had me shocked

  12. I had it at 29-28 Machida. Tito did land some strikes in the 3rd and had the sub attempt, but also got brutalized by the knee and some GnP.

Tito did not win the 1st and 2nd. Doesn't matter how much you press the action. If you're opponent keeps landing strikes and you land nothing, you will not win.
