Did Universal sell stuffed animal creature from the black lagoon when it came out???

I have this stuffed animal my dad got at a garage sale that looks completely like the Creature from the Black Lagoon except its blue not green. Is this a homemade thing or was it made by Universal Studios. It looks like it was professionally made but I can't find anything about a line of stuffed animals made for the movies. I need to know!!

considering the movie came out in the 50's, I believe, if the toy is in really good condition, I'd say it likely isn't from the time the movie came out... Also, the movie and its sequel were in black and white :)  It's possible it is an 80's toy, as movie monsters made a comeback around that time.
