Wide Angle is a PBS documentary series. I saw an episode of it that focused on kidnappings in São Paulo, Brazil. If you've seen it, do you think it exaggerated the danger of the city, or was it spot on, or somewhere in the middle?

  1. wow

  2. I think the dangers they were focusing on were of kidnappings.  In that case, yes it is a dangerous city for those who are suceptible (i.e. the rich).

  3. I did think they exagerated...I'm also from Sao Paulo and things aren't that bad out there...it all depends on which neighborhood you live and I belive it's like that with every other big city (not only in Brazil). I find it interesting how the media focuses so much on the bad happenings of other countries...

  4. I´m from Sao Paulo , Brazil ....

Actually, I haven´t seen this episode, but ......

It´s importat to emphasize that Sao Paulo has lots of "favelas" , located, mainly, in the suburb of the city. FAVELAS are Brazilian Slums .... Evn though the most known "favelas" arelocated in Rio de Janeiro, there are in almost Brazilian big town ... As Belo Horizonte, Victória ....

About the kiddnapings in Sao Paulo... Well....

There are some people whic die shot.... There´s also the PCC faction ( in Portuguese, Primeiro Comando da Capital)THE fIRST cOMMAND OF THE cAPITAL, which , in 15th of May, killed almost 72 people ( some of them , inocens)....

At last, Sao Paulo it´s not too dangerous...
