  1. hello

actually he did serve a little time ... on another offence ...

"In 1965 Ayers joined a picket line protesting an Ann Arbor, Michigan, pizzeria for refusing to seat African Americans. His first arrest came for a sit-in at a local draft board, resulting in 10 days in jail"

although there was a warrant out for his arrest, the federal charges had to be dropped due to prosecutorial misconduct ...

"COINTELPRO (an acronym for Counter Intelligence Program) was a series of covert and often illegal projects conducted by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation aimed at investigating and disrupting dissident political organizations within the United States"

the church commitee that investigated cointelpro summed up the activities with

"Governmental officials -- including those whose principal duty is to enforce the law --have violated or ignored the law over long periods of time and have advocated and defended their right to break the law."

so due to illegal methods used to gather the evidence ,a self proclaimed terrorist was able to avoid jail time
