Smoking is still allowed indoors however, in designated lounges away from the casino. Smoking is now banned in the casino area.

  1. I am not a smoker, but this so sucks. and for the person who said.

"Anyone that claims this is an example of our freedoms being taken is idiotic. That's like saying that not allowing people to drink and drive is unfair on alcoholics."

I really dont think smoking in a casino is as fatal as Drinking and driving. I know people who have been gamblers and smokers for at least over 30 years. Let them live there lives how they want.  This is another act of taking our freedom away, Instead of the government trying to fix the economy, All i hear them doing is passing new laws preventing people from doing thing, claiming it will help our society have more peace. This law sucks, and whoever is with it is probably somone who is into the "magical amount", or "it must of been a typo" commercial. Go work for "Truth" and let smokers be.

  2. Yep, I heard it and I'm happy about!  I just wish we didn't have to wait till October...  I'm heading down in a couple of weeks and I'd love to be able to sit in a smoke-free casino for a change!

  3. Although I am not a smoker, I think this is just another one of the many signs that our freedoms are getting taken away, one by one.  Such a shame.

  4. That's great news.

I remember being against smoking bans, but now I realize it's a great idea.

I used to go and play poker in a bar, but I knew that I would come back stinking of cigarettes, so I would have to wear my second best clothes, not wanting to stink up nice jackets etc.

Now I can go there knowing I won't come back smelling like an ash tray.

Anyone that claims this is an example of our freedoms being taken is idiotic.  That's like saying that not allowing people to drink and drive is unfair on alcoholics.

  5. They allow smoking on the casino floor, it just has to be in a designated smoking area.  Many times they will have table game sections that alow smoking, as well as sections of slots that allow smoking.

They are allowed to dedicate up to 25% of their floorspace to smoking areas.  If you ask at a table they may remove the no smokign sign for you. provided nobody at the table objects.

  6. I think its great!

Although it has been a long time since I was in AC, and I will probably not go there in the near future, since there are now 4 casinos here in the Detroit area. One of them, Windsor Casino, banned smoking some time ago, and it is a pleasure to play there in a clean air atmosphere. Nice to know if I do go back that it is a non-smoking environment.

While I still occasionally will smoke a cigar, I do not mind at all going to the smoking lounge to do it.

And most likely the revenues will go down, but it seems to me, after reading the article, that the casino owners had their chance to create some smoking areas on the gaming floor and divide it up to separate the smoking section. The fact that they failed to do so now seems to have resulted in a total gaming floor ban. Too bad now, Casino Owners, you should have reinvested some of those huge profits!
