I rode most of the time when playing with my friends but I walked when playing single.

  1. I walk every chance I get, but a lot of courses "force" you to play (and pay) with a cart.  Carts make for a more social game, and you can carry your beer with you.  It's not a "conspiracy" or anything, but definitely a ploy by the pro shops.  Golfers who ride buy more beer.

  2. Always walk, and unless your crippled or over 60 taking a pullcart is weak.

  3. I follow the lead of the course, the time of day, and the group I am playing with.

Many courses require carts for early morning weekend tee times before noon.  If the group I am joining is all in carts or all walking, then I will follow their lead.  If my group is walking (which I do most of the time), then I gladly walk.

  4. Walk, pulling/pushing a bag cart....unless I'm playing in one of the weekly local tournaments....then I ride.  I love the exercise.

  5. At all depends, if its a cool breeze blowing day might as well walk chat with your friends and enjoy your stroll.  But if it's a can't wait to get in the club house sunning day take the cart and shoot 9 holes and call it a day.

  6. Up until I hit my 80th year walking was part of the golf regimen but I found that I was running out of steam the last five  or six holes. That was the end of walking and the beginning of carts.

  7. If i'm with a group of people i know, we normally ride, just so we can all get talk and such, not just drink. But if i just go by myself i'm there to win, not to talk. so i walk

  8. I always used to walk when I lived in Michigan, but living in the Texas heat, I ride now.  Some courses now won't even let you walk, which baffles me.
