Did You have a baby in the NICU or know someone who did?

If so, How long were they in there for, what were they in there for? Can you please share your experience? I am having a difficult time coping :'(

My friend had her baby at 27 weeks. He weighed 2lb 2 oz and was in the nicu for almost 3 months. the drive to the hospital was 1 hr each way and she did it every single day.   Her baby is now 8lbs And so healthy!!!

She would try and have friends or family go with her frequently so that she wasnt doing this on her own. (her husband came too of course)

Going to the nicu to see your baby is a very lonely helpless feeling. But you can do this. Dont be afraid to ask for help at all.

The day she got to take him home was the best day! She still goes back to see the nurses who took care of her baby in her absence and knows that even though it was a very hard 3 months, Her baby couldnt have made it without them.

My daughter is four now, but when she was born she inhaled amniotic fluid and meconium (p**p). She had what they called Transient Tecipnia of the Newborn (TTN). She was breathing too fast and they were worried she would hyperventilate. She was born in one hospital in the town where we live, but they transfered her to another hospital a half hour away where they had a specialist for her. So I signed out of the hospital the same day she was born (in alot of pain) to go be with her. But they didn't admit me to the hospital she was in, my husband and I had to find somewhere else to stay. So I couldn't be with her all the time. She was in the hospital for 6 days before I could bring her home.

She's been doing great, and hasn't had any major problems since!

My niece delivered 81/2 weeks early.  My great-nephew weighed 3lbs 9oz.  His lungs were not developed enough therefore he was in an incubator for several months and it was touch and go.  But he is 3 yrs old now and has grown by leaps and bounds.  You would never know that he was a preemie and fought to live.  He is the smartest little boy for he age and a comedian to boot.  He is WONDERFUL!!!

My brother and sister in law were expecting their little girl last August 22nd. However my sister in law wasn't feeling well and so she went to go lay down then she felt pain and started to get worried so they went to the hospital. she was in labor 8 weeks early. we thought they would stop the labor but they couldn't cause her water broke. she was in labor when they lost the babies heart beat and doctors came from everywhere and said they were doing an emergency c-section.

My niece was born weighing only 3lbs 2oz and on June 27th of this year we celebrated her 1st Birthday. She was in ICU for three weeks just until she could eat out of a bottle and that she was gaining weight. now she is learning to walk..
