Unfortunately, airplanes crash frequently in Africa, compared to other parts of the world, and inevitably some of these crashes are the result of overloading.  Many African carriers have problems with incompetent crews, improper or missing maintenance, improper procedures, inadequate infrastructure, and so on, and a significant number of banned from many of the world's major airports.
