When i was younger my dad did a trick on me which was showing me he could contact spirits. It was very believable because he had me write a question on a piece of paper, then we burned the paper, and then he took the ashes and rubbed them on his forearm and in the ashes an answer would appear. The act is very realistic and scary, but the trick is ingenious because each time you go to the bathroom to wash your forearms, you simply write the answer to the next question in soap. The soap is invisible so your forearms look bare, and the ashes stick to the soap so a word literally appears.

Anyways, I did this trick to my friend on a whim and he believed it. But now he is like happy to have tangible evidence that an afterlife exists and there is more to life than meets the eye, and i don't know if i have the heart to tell him that his knew found approach to life is simply a soap trick.

so in this situation is ignorance bliss?

  1. man please tell him :)

    im gonna try that trick

  2. I have a question for you:  were the answers to the questions always "yes" or "no"?  if not how did your dad know what the answer to the next question was gonna be????

  3. It's okay to tell someone it was a trick. In fact, it's better that you do. But you don't have to tell them how you did it.

If he's the religious sort, explain to him that he's still allowed to believe what he did before, and apologize for not telling him sooner.
