  1. Yes - almost always, I find that there is a communication problem. It's difficult for both parties to fully understand the other when they don't speak the same first language when having a general conversation, but doubly so when talking about technical issues.

  2. No they wouldn't have.99% of the Indians who know english are good @ it and what they speak can b easily understood.

  3. hey brother, there are many reasons cuz indians speak kindda british english which is different from american accent and americans can have hard time understanding indians and vice versa.

but though i m an indian, i think instad of indians, britishers, americans or someone with their mothertongue, english should be hired like for dell support and other stufff . indians mothertongue is not english but i think this should get better or people hired for this job should have english auditions so that everyone can understand.

    hope this helps!!!!

  4. This is why I left AOL about 8 years ago. I now have Comcast for internet service and can understand Every word being spoken.

If I were to give someone 10 points it would be the answerer after me. Her answer is funny in a serious way.

  5. That gets me so mad. you call from America and you are rerouted to a foreign Country. They can't understand us and we can't understand them. You see Corporate America pays them half the wages they would pay you or me,that's why you are talking to foreigners. Most of them don't even know what they are talking about and then they get mad when we keep asking them to repeat themselves. I usually try and get an american number to customer service and tell them off. GOOD LUCK!!!!!! It's only gonna get worse.....

  6. linksys router tech support is got to be the worst-will never call them again-hired local tech to solve problem-bought in america with foreign language included-lol

  7. i'm not trying to be racist but i often contact sprint customer service and i have a very difficult time understanding many of their service reps! i'm sure they have a hard time understanding us too so i'm not sure why they get hired!

  8. I've dealt with a lot of them, working in network support. Some of them are very knowledgeable, and speak English fairly well but in my experience it is a rarity. Some of them seem to be reading a list of questions and expected answers, if your problem is off their script you are in deep trouble. The ones that have a strong accent are almost impossible to understand, and there are some that it seems like English is their third or fourth language. I suspect Indian phone support has gotten so popular that they are having to draft people that really should not be doing it to meet the demand. The person being hurt by this is the customer, and ultimately the company hiring the Indian phone support.

  9. I used to have this problem with AT&T every time I called -- and I've done medical transcription for doctors from India, so I've a good chance of understanding through the accent.  A lot of the problem seemed to be the technical dialogue and their lack of English vocabulary when I'm trying to describe a problem -- they often just couldn't comprehend what I was trying to say, and I didn't know what words they knew in English and which they didn't, so couldn't adjust to make it work.

I got rid of the problem by switching to cable for phone and internet too, and now if I have to call I get a guy named Mike or Joe here in the US who understands every word I say and who speaks English clearly!  I worried about the 911 service through cable phones, but recently had to call and found that the ambulance got here quicker than when I had called through AT&T phones -- so I'll probably never go back to a "phone" company for phone services.

  10. I Called RoadRunner Internet last week.  They have such a strong accent, it's absolutely useless.  They don't understand anything beyond basic 3rd grade english.  It was better when Convergys (The last people providing Roadrunner support )  had their contract in North America.

  11. Can't speak for Americans but as a British person when I called up it was a nightmare waiting for them to chase that snake out of the office...

(Indians as a rule are very helpful and polite and I'm partial to a vindaloo).

  12. OMG!!! Don't even get me stated on this one!!

how about DELL support....I thinks its a Chinese....their accent is worse than the Indians!!  no offense...!

  13. lol. Yes, I try to be very understanding and listen hard but it is very difficult to understand them even when their English is good because they have a very strong accent. Usually if I am patient with them and polite they do the same, but one time I had a man that was nearly impossible to understand and he was very rude! I asked for another person to assist me.

  14. Not really but I seldom call tech support for any problem that the contractors in India are allowed to help with. I almost always need to go straight to level 2 tech support which the Indian contractors are not allowed to handle.
