Question:

Did any guys start taking dance to help with other sports?

I have been boxing for a while and my footwork wasnt to good. Then my friend got me into her jazz and salsa dance class. It realy helped! My footworked improved alot. i still train for boxing but know i dance many forms such as Jazz, salsa HipHop, and a bit of Ballet when i can. no one ever gave me problems for dancing may be because i was Boxing haha

  1. Any sport that requires agility from men have had men take some sort of dance.


  2. Sugar Ray Robinson, probably the greatest fighter ever, was also an accomplished dancer.  

    And don't forget that Floyd Mayweather just gave a good showing of himself on Dancing with the Stars.

    Certain forms of dancing, like the ones you mentioned, are good because they help with footwork and rhythm.  Other forms like country line dancing are not so good.  That's not just from me though.  My old college boxing coach used to say that all the time!!!

Aussie Rules Footballers actually learn ballet techniques for jumping because they need to learn how to jump high to catch the ball.  Ballet helps them to actually jump so high that they can jump onto another players shoulders with their knees to gain more height to catch the ball!  It's amazing to watch.  Here's a some Youtube links so you can see it for yourself!  The first one it a compilation but the second it 'the 'mark' of the year!'
