  1. We have 4 cats in the house and just keep the bedroom doors closed when we are sleeping. No net needed that way.

  2. Yes, and personally I don't think it was worth it. We just made sure that the cat didn't sleep in the same room as our baby (when she was little). We didn't use it in the end, I kept getting scared that the cat would get its claws stuck in the net and not be able to get them out.

Plus you have to un-zip it every time you want to get to your baby, not the most practical thing in the middle of the night without turning on the light.

I ended up putting a blanket on a bean bag, on the floor in her bedroom when she was older. This meant that the cat slept there instead of the cot. One of the benefits stated on that website is that it stops the child climbing out... but once a child can sit up its advisable to lower the cot base and then when they can stand to no longer have them in the cot.

    Hope this helps. xx

  3. No I didn't buy one.  We have 2 cats, and whenever they would get into the crib or bassinet we would squirt them with a water bottle.  They would take off running.  After a week or two of doing this, they stay away from it now.

  4. No, I didn't buy it.  I just kept my cat out of my son's room.  I didn't really have the extra money to get it.

  5. No. We (sadly) gave our cats away to wonderful new owners before the baby was born - baby was more important.

  6. We have cats, and we haven't purchased it.  For the most part, the cats are kept out of the room when my son is in his bassinet.  The same will be true when he's in his crib in his own room.

  7. With both my kids (5 months and 5 yrs) I shut the door when they go to bed to keep the cats out.

  8. No, my husband wanted to but I refused.  My husband was over paranoid about the cats sleeping with my daughter.  We shut the door and turned her monitor on when she slept in her crib at night.  Recently he's loosened up about the cats and HE leaves her door open.

They way I always looked at it was if the cats jump in the crib with her she's going to cry.  that will freak the cats out and they won't do it again.  If we put the net on the crib I know my cats would still try to jump in there but instead they will land on the net.  Which will then freak them out which will freak my daughter out.  Too much risk if you ask me.

My MIL suggested putting a screen door on her door frame until she got older.  I don't think so.

The cats and the babe have to learn to be around each other.  There will be a point that my daughter will pull the cats hair (she actually started that this weekend).  The cats will learn not to come around her if they don't want their hair pulled and she will have to learn no to pull their hair.  It's the only way to live a peaceful life with out nets and screen doors up if you ask me.

PS- the stories everyone tells about cats smothering babes when they sleep is an old wives tale.  The only reason why a cat would be up close to the babes face would be to l**k milk off their face and if you don't put them to sleep with a bottle you don't have to worry about that.

  9. i bought one from a friend to keep my kids in instead of pets out. it worked great on my daughter, but my son learned how to unzip it from the inside within 6 weeks. he was under 2 years old and met me at the top of the steps at 2 am one morning!!

  10. no only 1 of you cats ever payed any attention to the baby and she would only lay with the baby when he was on a blanket on the floor she would cuddle up to his feet.  about a month be for my so was born we put the crib and bassinet up and we let the cats smell it and after that we used the squirt bottle if they went in them.   I think the best thing we did was when baby came home the first thing we did was strip baby to a diaper than sit on the floor put baby on a blanket then let the cats and dog smell baby from head to toe so they knew what it is and you don't have curious animals thying to get to baby

  11. No, I did not do that with my cat and dog.  We just kept the door closed to the baby's room whenever she was sleeping.  We also bought and installed a baby gate that the cat couldn't crawl through or the dog couldn't jump over.  I wouldn't feel good about netting over my baby's crib.  Good luck!
