Did anybody else hear the loud bang in Rangiora?

A loud bang which happened between 8.30 and 9pm on 7/09/07 shook our house and scared all the animals. Any body know what it was?

It was either a plane or meteor breaking the sound barrier creating a "sonic boom". If it was a meteor, it likely burned up before it hit the earth.

Probably either a sonic boom or an exploding UFO. More than likely an exploding UFO.

I did not hear of an explosion in that area of the world.e

Ball lightning can sound like that and seem to come from nowhere. It is extremely loud and bright.

Could have been a meteor coming through the earths atmosphere.

Did you go outside to see if you could see anything in the sky? Did you notice whether the sound moved or not or whether anything sould be heard after the loud bang.

At this stage I have no meteor reports coming from your part of the country but it sounds very like that was what you heard.
