Question:

Did anybody go to Central London from Gatwick airport?

I'm from Italy and I would like information about public means of trasport from Gatwick to London. I was told there isn't underground from Gatwick. I'm looking for a cheap and sure solution. I saw on internet, but I'd like your opinion.

Do I need to book in advance on coaches or I will certainly find 3 seats on 10-15 August? (If I book and my easy jet airplane arrive late I'm nor sure what will happen, my ticket probably cannot be use for a successive coach)

Do I have to pay an extra fee for my luggage?

Thank you.

  1. Getting from Gatwick into London is pretty easy.  There's a station at the airport South Terminal, which is the one that EasyJet uses most.  (if its the North Terminal, you can transfer in a few minutes using the free monorail that connects the terminals).

There are trains regularly from Gatwick to London that takes from 25 to 50 minutes depending on where you're going.  You don't need to book in advance but simply buy the tickets at Gatwick station when you get there.  You're not guaranteed seats together this way (but you also don't worry an out your flight being late in arriving) although this shouldn't be a problem.  The price is around £9

The easiest and quickest way into London Victoria station is to take the Gatwick Express.  This is a dedicated train to and from the airport and takes only 20 minutes into the city.  Its comfortable, quiet and efficient, although it does cost a bit more - around £18.

You don't have to pay for luggage on either service and they have space for luggage, although the Gatwick Express has a bit more.
