Did anybody outside of England notice that Graeme Hick just broke a record this week?

He played in his 1196th representative match, a T20 game vs Somerset at Worcester, breaking the career representative match appearances record which Graham Gooch had held since 2000. Just interested to see if anybody abroad actually noticed a little piece of cricket history being made.

  1. To be honest, it is a bit like modern players breaking the number of test matches played - who cares?  What is more important is how good someone is rather than how long they have hung around for.  Also, given the number of one day games, how can this be compared to players from the past?

  2. Got 28 (I think) against Warwickshire tonight! We thrashed Worcestershire - COME ON YOU BEARS (Warwickshire)

  3. Good for him!

  4. Graeme Hick is a legend! Oldest player to score a 50 in T20, he could probably go on and re-set that record in the next few years, he looks like he's got a few years left in him yet.

  5. Well kudos to him. But I bet most of these are one day matches. No matter how long he plays, he is unlikely to beat Wilfred Rhodes record of 1110 first class matches, or even get to 550 (half that number). But to have scored 40,000 runs in 516 matches is a great record, and a First Class and List A combined total of 62,415 runs is a phenomenal achievement, so hats off to him.
