I thought dempster could have been a solid number 3 starter this year, but i never thought he'd put together a career campaign like he has. Even i had my doubts, but i always thought his stuff was good enough to be an excellent starter if he doesn't put guys on via the walk and he has done that for the most part this year. I never thought i'd say this, but dempster has been the cubs ace this year no question about it. Zambrano has had his ups and downs, but dempster has been consistent and has given the cubs a chance to win nearly every time out with the exception of the white sox game at US cellular field.

  1. I did, ever since he played for Marlins I knew one day he would break out.

  2. I agree, I didn't think he'd be 13-5 with an ERA just over 2.90 in the middle of August. I figured he'd have an ERA around 3.75 which is still good.

I also agree that when his pitches are all working, he can dominate and pitch a solid eight innings. And he has definitely been the most consistent starter this year. There's only been a couple outings in which he's given up four or more runs.
