Question:

Did anyone catch this Joe Biden statement last night in his speech?

"And when I got knocked down by guys bigger than me -- and this is the God's truth -- she sent me back out and said, "Bloody their nose so you can walk down the street the next day." And that's what I did."

I thought liberals were against violence? Where's diplomacy in this situation? Would Obama advocate this approach? If someone knocks down the tallest buildings in Manhattan, shouldn't we bloody their proverbial nose?

  1. I did hear that comment and the camera panned to his mother in the audience, where she was smiling and nodding yes to his statement.

I think you are stirring again, this was a childhood reminiscence, not a political comment.

Plenty of real issues, pick one to ask about.

  2. Be serious. Its called standing up for yourself. Someone punchs you, you punch back.

  3. I think it's time conservatives distort points like liberals do.

Do we really need someone that's going to beat up other people that he doesn't agree with?

  4. You think this actually happened, do you?

By the way... I've actually heard this story a number of times from other people.  I remember something really close to it being in an episode of the Andy Griffith show, too.

Remember, this is Joe Biden, who is fearless when it comes to taking someone else's words and making them his own.

  5. On the whole, yes, I think most liberals would chose to avoid violence.  However to take it so literally as you have here is kind of stupid.  I think you know what he was getting at, and I also don't think that Iraq is solely responsible for 9/11.

  6. Open4one has a great answer. See, Ann Coulter's article "Hair We Can Believe In." That should be good for a few thumbs down.

Your rhetorical, "tongue in cheek" question "I thought liberals were against violence?" can be answered by the simple quote "The ends justifies the means." Don't ever be fooled into thinking that liberals are peaceful or that the Democrat party is the "party of inclusion." I have had personal experience (radicalism and the anti-Viet Nam war movement of the late 60s early 70s) and believe me it can become very ugly and even brutal  (including beatings, bombings, friendships lost and people's careers destroyed).

When Biden or any democrat refers to you as his friend, as in Biden's "my friend, John McCain" be prepared to be brutalized and have your character assassinated (Biden simply lied about McCain's positions while exaggerating Obama's experience and falsifying Obama's own positions). That the faithful wept and nodded their heads in agreement and adoration is exactly what Biden intended them to do because it is always "win by any means possible" and to heck with the facts.

  7. Geeze, its just an analogy of one of his life experiences that he used show that he is not afraid to go toe to toe with the GOP smear machine.

  8. Liberals have never been against fighting back.  You have been sadly misinformed for a very long time.

the tallest building in Manhattan was NOT knocked down by the Iraqis.  What don't you get about that????????????????

Every Liberal in America wants justice for 9-11.  They just want it on the correct people.

  9. Yes, it choked me up and got me all teary eyed.  I fought back the emotions of poor ugly, under dressed Joey fighting for his lunch money.  I could only imagine how he went back out on the street and pleaded for Tommy to give him a crumb to eat so he could go back home in honor to please his bed ridden Mom, and his hardworking handicap father and poor deaf granny with his success.

  10. Joe is a little bit older than me but that's how we handled bully's when i was younger there was none of this calling the school setting up a meeting and no whimps allowed on our block. I was also taught lead follow or get out of the way in the service we have become a nation of whimps

  11. Yes, I caught that.

And your question has to be the reach for today.

  12. My but we are the clever little minx, aren't we?  Look, why not just state that you're a GOPer and that you hate Dems?  At least you wouldn't waste time with the sort of drivel you post here.

  13. Yes, I heard that, it kind of stuck out there, too.

  14. I don't know why you equate liberalism with pacifism.  They aren't one and the same thing by any stretch of the imagination.  You are instead just buying a conservative generated stereotype that has little to do with reality.

Joe Biden and Barack Obama are all for bloodying the proverbial noses of those that knocked down those buildings in Manhattan.  That is why they advocate going after them in Afghanistan and Pakistan.  That's where they are, not Iraq.

The nerve you struck was the BS meter.

  15. You make a good point, but just be thankful that at least one man on the ticket has a pair of balls.
