Did anyone else find the exaggerated statements about the Russia/Georigia confict crass and presumptive?

My thoughts on it are below. Read and disagree if you want to.

Basically, if you were listening/watching Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC these past few days, you saw all the info-babes/himbo anchors along with the talking head pundits, say how close we were to World War 3 or a new Soviet Union. Do you remember how much hype and scare there was a while back when North Korea supposedly detonated a "quais-nuclear" device and everyone went ******* politically? Yet, the world really didn't alter that much.

Does anyone else realize that this is how humanity and nations have worked and operated since the dawn of the simplelest civilizations? One group/nation exploits or hegemonizes another one who is somehow weaker.

Also, whether you support or hate Bush's invasion and nation-building in Iraq/Afghanistan, the United States has been doing the same thing with other forieign nations for decades now. And yes, sometimes are purpose for doing so is a bit noble yet at the same time it can be quite transparently greedy or for our own self-interests (i.e. economics)

I'm not supporting Russia, but let's not get into the kettle-pot situation. We're no angels, ourselves. Also, do you really think Russia is just gonna be a gentle, lumbering giant from now-on? They have a well-documented history of invading, influencing, and warring with their neighbors.

  1. Why don't you all READ UP on Osettia and you will see that Osettia was given independence from Georgia and Osettians have Russian citizenship.  The Georgian President set out to reclaim it which is why the Russians stepped in.

FRANKLY, this is a puney tiny war over territory, hardly worth starting a WORLD WAR OVER.

These CNN people need a f***ing lobotomy.  If they went off the air the world would be a better place.

  2. They are American News media. Their  missions are:

    a) support anything Uncle Sam says

    b) report all American's  "positive" news to public

    c) report all Russian, Chinese, even European  ... "negative" news to public

    d) brainstorm, brainwash  and mislead American public as needed

  3. Wow you made all these assumptions and decided they were fact and everyone else was wrong sitting on your but thousands of miles away without any other input!!!

What a clever person you are - NOT!!!!

'Tis better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than open one's mouth and remove all doubt.       Samuel Johnson.

  4. Yes, I've been watching Fox news all the time, but the only ones that was talking about world war 3 is the people in answers page, I answered a few of them, I just think Russia just wanted to flex some mussel and let the world to know that there still and are a power to reckon  with. also the USA is always trying to help other countries  when they get into trouble or in  a natural disaster,  why is it that we are the only ones to run to their aid, we have our own problems but you dont see other countries running to our aid. Mexico is one big problem but their not helping to keep their people on the other side of the border and our border men are punished for trying to do their job. Yes, the world has been at war since the  very start, and will always have war going on somewhere. the bible says there will be wars and rumors of war, also it says  they cry peace but there is no peace.

  5. Just another example of how most of the mainstream media (led (sadly) by Fox News) nowadays so over-sensationalizes every little thing that happens with a chicken little mentality that can only be designed to boost ratings. I'm not sure what drives the competition for ratings, but it has gotten to the point where I would not be surprised to hear buzz words like "Armageddon" and "World War III" tossed about quite a bit..... honestly this dust up in the Caucuses is the international equivalent of a school yard bully beating up a smaller, weaker kid.... Ho Hum.
