Did anyone else find the exaggerated statements about the Russia/Georigia confict crass and presumptive?
My thoughts on it are below. Read and disagree if you want to.
Basically, if you were listening/watching Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC these past few days, you saw all the info-babes/himbo anchors along with the talking head pundits, say how close we were to World War 3 or a new Soviet Union. Do you remember how much hype and scare there was a while back when North Korea supposedly detonated a "quais-nuclear" device and everyone went ******* politically? Yet, the world really didn't alter that much.
Does anyone else realize that this is how humanity and nations have worked and operated since the dawn of the simplelest civilizations? One group/nation exploits or hegemonizes another one who is somehow weaker.
Also, whether you support or hate Bush's invasion and nation-building in Iraq/Afghanistan, the United States has been doing the same thing with other forieign nations for decades now. And yes, sometimes are purpose for doing so is a bit noble yet at the same time it can be quite transparently greedy or for our own self-interests (i.e. economics)
I'm not supporting Russia, but let's not get into the kettle-pot situation. We're no angels, ourselves. Also, do you really think Russia is just gonna be a gentle, lumbering giant from now-on? They have a well-documented history of invading, influencing, and warring with their neighbors.
