Question:

Did anyone else get mad with Andy Murray toward the end of the Nadal match?

I know I did, at 30-15 5-3 Nadal, Andy hit a shot down the line on the right side and it was called out. Then he went (screaming) "IT was IN!!!", and then walked to the net at proceeded to bully the linesman (who only looked about 18) saying he had made terrible calls all night and that he was wrong.

He couldn't challenge because he had ran out of them, but when they showed it to the TV audience, Hawk-Eye clearly showed the shot out. Now, I am all for passion and the want to win the match, but simply because the linesman can't retaliate to Murray's yelling doesn't mean Andy has the right to abuse him because he thought he got the call wrong.

Also, Andy shouldn't have been allowed to even shout at the linesman seen as he had no challenges left, so could not question his call which is his own fault for challenging wrong balls.

Discuss.

  1. character and attitude are needed in a sport to be more interesting to look at... but Murray's display of outrage is not acceptable in my standards. But I don't blame him... or should we? He needs some spanking I supposed... but he was beaten by Nadal already... I just hope that he learns his lesson and improve his ways... and that would be a great topic of discussion in the future.

  2. Unless you have been in that situation when its third set and so tight you all might be able to comment. But i,ve played a few satelite tournaments and when your convinced the ball is in, you don,t give a **** what the linesman or umpire think. You'll nine times out of ten go off your head and cal the linesman or the umpire a liar.

  3. he can beat nadal...but his own temper beat himself....good play but worst player....

  4. I totally agree with you. He was very rude to the lines man. The guy seemed so helpless when he was screaming at him. I, myself, thought that it was in at first but it wasn't. I understand that he was really frustrated at the call since he really thought it was in but he had no right to scream at him cause he used up all his challenges in the point prior to this, which was obviously out. He must have looked real stupid if, and when he saw the replay of his match on tv.

  5. Andy has always had a temper or should I say Hissy Fit problem for a long time.  He is still growing up, remember he is younger than Nadal, but I totally agree, he should be warned and then if need be penalized for bullying lines personnel or even the chairperson if believed warranted.  Abuse should not be tolerated anywhere by anyone.  Tennis is a wonderful sport and should not be tarnished by such idiosy.

  6. Murray is an ***, because all night he was amazingly in control of his typical screaming ego mania out bursts, but then he started breaking down when the score was tight.  He tightened up at the end of the 1st set when he should have won it. He kept hitting errors at the end. Same in 2nd set, when it was close, he broke down.

  7. yeah andy had no control over himself!! I had an experiencelike that, I was playing this guy and he thought i was making bad calls after a few both coaches were paying attention. They both saw that i was right and he almost got thrown out. It isn't right to go crazy about calls, you can disagree with stuff but don't freak out

  8. he's a brat :) i really dont think him.

poor lad that he was shouting at, he did look dead young bless him. he shoulda got a tellin off for that.

and its his own fault he used all his challenges, shoulda been more careful !
