Question:

Did anyone else notice the demographics of the RNC last night?

It looked to me to be just old white men and their families. Did anyone else notice the complete lack of diversity as far as race and age? At one point I saw a guy wearing a confederate hat. Is this the image the Republican Party represents? I found it shocking. Did anyone else notice this?

  1. I noticed the empty seats. Lots and lots of empty seats.

I noticed GW Bush. As usual, he phoned it in.

I noticed GHW Bush, and remember when we considered him to be a lousy president? Sheesh!

I saw a lot of haves and have-mores talking each other into a very polite frenzy as they waited for yet another tribute to Reagan.

When I walk around my Orange County community and interact with the people who live here, I realized how difficult it would be to assemble an all-white gathering like we saw last night. They just do not represent the USA of 2008.

We should capture these images for a museum exhibit of days gone by.

  2. It's no wonder that Fred Thompson called Palin a breath of fresh air what with all the old white farts in there.

  3. Sorry, the republicans didn't do what Obama's staff does: Seat people according to gender and race... picking who gets to sit in front of the cameras. Would you not consider that a form of discrimination?

  4. This was noted by the analysts, as well.

Many of the McCain delegates were Christian conservatives.  There's two parts to these conventions:  nominating a candidate and drafting the party platform.  Christian conservatives made sure they would be a part of the platform regardless of which Republican candidate eventually won the nomination.

This is smart on-the-ground politics, but perhaps a little disillusioning to McCain supporters thinking they were revolting against the right wing of the party.

  5. whatever!!!

  6. Didn't bother me. That's a pretty racist thing to point out anyhow. You should feel ashamed and shocked by your own focus on race and age. What's wrong with old white men? Nothing. Just like there's nothing wrong with old black or young Asian men. Get over yourself.

  7. Or did you notice what the TV networks decided to SHOW to you?

Did you also notice that they cut off the Thompson and Lieberman speeches so that their anchors could run their mouths about what was wrong with the speeches that they wouldn't let people hear for themselves?

Did they think that if you heard those speeches you might not vote for their Obamessiah?

So what do you consider the threshold for "shocking"?

    Making up your own mind?

    Or being manipulated?

  8. No.

  9. Lily white no hispanics no asians no blacks. The one true star of diversity they do have had an emergency and had to wear his governor hat at home

  10. There were some homosexuals there - I saw Joe S on the tube.

  11. What you see, is what you'll get!

    OBAMA/BIDEN '08!

  12. There were a lot of shocking things at the RNC. This is a side of America I have never seen before.

  13. Are you just now realizing this?  LOL

It's so bad I am creeped out just looking at pictures of their convention.  It's like the 60's never came.

  14.   yes and most of them with suits on.  Now again are they representing the middle class or the upper class.

  15. You noticed what many Americans failed to notice 8 and 4 years ago.  The rich conservatives of this country will continue to make their dollar on the back of working Americans as long as they continue to control this government.  The change that this country needs will not come from what the RNC is representing.

  16. It was interesting. Well their party is based on "if tradition dictates"

  17. Sophie You are color blind there were plenty of intelligent blacks in the house. Try something else.

  18. It is the Republican Convention after all. Did you really expect there to be a lot of diversity in the audience? It was all old white men. I thought it was funnier that the tv cameras kept focusing on the 5 african americans in the room.

  19. I noticed....matter of fact.  I pointed it out to my husband.  They are very dull also.

  20. No sorry. At least they did not spend the OUTRAGEOUS amount that Obummer did.Your tax dollars at work, yeah vote for him. Kiss your paycheck goodbye!

  21. Diversity?  As opposed to what?  Homosexual drug addicts living in Manhattan?

At least they didn't look like they came out of the Rocky Horror Picture Show like the DNC convention- shudder.

Also, if "all blacks" are voting for Obama...what the h**l do you expect?

  22. It looked like they culled the palest group of people to fill the stadium.  I don't know if it's a coincidence or intentional.

BTW, I am neither black nor white.  I just couldn't help but notice.

  23. I watched the convention coverage from about 7:45 to after 10 last night. Maybe we watched different channels, or you weren't looking carefully, but I saw a LOT of young adults there. In fact, it was a very pleasant surprise to see twentysomethings there at all. I didn't watch the DNC so I can't compare but there were a LOT of young adults there last night. How could you not notice them?

Oh yeah, we don't appeal to enough Americans. And yet, the Dems seem to keep losing Presidential elections.

As for the HAT guy, give me a break.

Why are you looking at THE ONE GUY who was wearing a hat with a logo YOU apparently find objectionable (and which he has the right to wear, btw) , and deciding on the basis of the ONE guy who is wearing a hat different from everybody's else there, that that ONE guy represents the GOP?

Do you think that makes sense?

  24. I do not support either the demoncrats of the DNC or the demoncrat running for the republocrats.... what I did notice very clearly was that the networks were very biased in their  reporting and in their way of using the camera against the republicans... I do not like the republicans but I would not treat them any differently that the demoncrats(note my bias even though I do not like the repubs)... what you saw was deliberate camera work to show just what you saw... from the worst possible angle... it was not honest reporting in the least...

I take a LOT of photographs... and I know how to make a good picture bad and a bad one good... a sewer can be made to look good ie:  like the democrats network presentation... and a sewer can be made to look even worse, like they did with the republicans

  25. Yes I did.

Check my profile for a question I asked this morning about the difference in diversity between the two conventions (RNC vs. DNC).

P.S. "Diversity" doesn't mean 'black' people only for those who are diversity adverse.

  26. C;mon, there was a plethora of colors and diversity in the RNC.  We had white, pasty white, country club white, slightly tanned white, really white, and Michael Steele!

  27. Yes, Conservatives are racist we know that already.

We're also stupid, and evil.  Thanks we've heard it before.

  28. Because the Republican party awards delegates their positions based on merit.  This is not at all what the Democrats do.  They assign their delegates positions based on race and gender.  So, plenty of white males who work their butts off for the Democrat Party are passed over to award delegate positions to people who "look right".

Seems they fooled you well enough.

Democrat Party to women:  Get back in the kitchen, pregnant and barefoot where you belong unless there is a TV camera around.

  29. I look foward to an Obama Country where eveyone will be questin about all of their associations, and those found 'lacking diversity' will be sent to diversity re-education and monitored for life

  30. Yes I noticed, that they are are very small on diversity, disagreement will not be tolerated by the Republican Party.Everyone must look alike and think alike.

  31. No.  My TV had a lot of snow and fuzz.

    Oh, I see your point.
