Did anyone go to finishing school?

My mother went to Institut Villa Pierrefeu in Switzerland, and now wants me to go when i finish school, but i don't really want to, she said that it has helped her in her career and that it is paramount to no how to behave in polite society. I would rather be traveling in my gap year than spending it at finishing school in Switzerland.

but any experience abroad is good whether it's finishing school or not....and anyway, there's so mnay people doing the usual backpacking round south america/australia or thailand now that professionally, this doesn't stand out on your cv - however

just remember you'll make friends for life there and it's not for long - you have plenty of time to travel when you're older and you'll appreciate so much more then, with confidence (and prob more money to spend!)

I've never been to a finishing school. I don't think I want to either.
