And if so were there any complications with your baby? And what were your reasons for having gone early?

Thank you in advance!

  1. No mine was bang on date, but my friend had hers at 35 weeks around the same time I had mine. I don't think she was ever given a reason to my knowledge for why she was early, just one of those things as far as I know. But there were no major complications - the baby didn't need rescusitation or special care, she stayed on the same ward with her, they had to stay in a few days longer than usual but otherwise she was given the all clear. There have been no major health effects other than weight problems (still very small). But the difference between my baby and her baby, who are almost exactly the same age but one was a prem. one wasn't, is remarkable. Not just in size, but general development - you'd expect her to be about 5 weeks behind of her age I guess, but she is far further behind than this in everything she is doing. She is still a gorgeous little thing but I still see her as a newborn when she is actually 6 months and it's sad really. I don't know if all 35wk babies are like this, but she certainly is. I don't think it's the end of the world though. Differences like that are very noticeable in babies. I imagine by the time they're toddlers the difference will hardly be noticeable.
