Question:

Did anyone hear about Andrew Walker's (Carlton) driving offence?

Walker received a suspended jail term and conviction for driving without a license.

How come this didn't make big news, like when Collingwood and West Coast players do something wrong?

Why haven't Carlton suspended him like other clubs are forced to do, and why didn't he make the front page?

I think that all players that do something wrong should be treated the same, and Walker is no exception.

Your thoughts?

  1. Nope, didn't hear about it - & that's what Carlton would want anyway.

For him to have received a suspended jail term for driving without a motor driver's licence means that he must have been driving under suspension - I wonder what the original offence was???

Either that, or else he has a lengthy record. Courts don't hand out suspended jail terms just for simple driving without a licence - there had to be more to it.

The inactivity & muteness of Carlton does not surprise me one little bit!

  2. Who really cares.

    He is a magnificent player.

We all know that Collingwood are the most hated club in AFL. I hate all of the publicity that players get...it gets to a stage when you DON'T care at all.

    Cousins: Underworld connections. Druggie.

    Didak: Bikey connection.

    Shaw: just an idiot.

    Thanks for the minis. =0

Whats been happeing? I havent talked with you in age?

  3. What a good point youve made! Its so unfair how certain clubs that have had a fair bit of recent off field dramas are forced to/or just ban, sack, suspend (etc.) their players. Every club within the afl has equal rights and not one player should be treated differently to the other, this is a true value that is not being portrayed throughout our game right now.

Its like this, imagine an 100 m sprint final at the olympics, all the men are dead fast and its going to be a tight race, two men start a second before the others and while one gets penalized the other doesnt, it shows how not every man is equally treated the same within the sport and its an issue the afl need to adress, certain players dont have more or less rights, every players rights is the same.

I hate the reputations clubs are 'made' to have - which influences the importance of an off field drama, the media play a key part in this - they just want a good story. if it was a collingwood, eagles player it would be all over the news because the collingwood footy club and the eagles have had some recent off field drama which builds up into just a disaster leading them to being extra watched by the media.

Every player, every club, have the same rights, no club is better or worse then the other and for anything that does not happen on the field at times - it should be taken care of in a respectful way and each club should have the SAME way of dealing with it and the same sort of respect from the media.

  4. The only thing I heard/saw about this was when I was watching Sunrise one morning and along the bottom of the screen they have the little news runner and it said something like "AFL: Carlton's Andrew Walker has been given a suspended jail term for driving while suspended"

Perhapsps it is becausno-onenactuallyly cares about Andrew Walker. I mean when I say that he is not a high profile player so anything that happened would fall under the "care factor - NIL" heading. And you can be sure that if it was any of the Collingwood or West Coat players that it would have again made front page news.

They should all get treated the same. And that should be halfway between Walkers treatment and Pies/Eagles players treatment. IE make it known, but don't make it such a HUGE deal. And let the AFL have a code of conduct that applies equally to everyone no matter if you are Ben Cousins or a Rookie from the Demons.

  5. Hah!  Hadn't heard that but he has quite a name to live up to there.  Given Andrew Walker's (of Brumbies and Wallabies fame) efforts over the years.  A little suspended sentence is no big deal!

  6. No, i have seen nothing about this, which proves your point!

Collingwood were made to suspend their players, west coast had to suspend and sack some of theirs! Where is the justice... carlton have gotten away with a lot of "incidents" in the past, *cough *cough fevola!

Sorry to bring this back to the victoria vs rest of the country, but this is just one more thing which makes as 'interstaters' so annoyed, besides collingwood many victorian clubs get away with things other clubs could not wish to get away with. And if didaks and shaws lie hadn't been found out they also would have gotten away with it.

It would be spread across the papers nation wide, shaming our (pies or eagles) players, forcing us to have suspend our players, it is the medias fault along with the individual clubs who do not follow other clubs examples in meaning to the punishment for players who get involved in 'incidents'.

The AFL needs to inflict rules which are known and followed by every team!

  7. Collingwood are big news, and anything involving Didak is even bigger, that's the mentality Eddie has been pushing since he took over, Collingwood v the rest he loves people to hate the black and white, so when the $hit hits the fan don't whinge when it's all over the papers, no such thing as bad publicity, Eddie would know that!!!
