Dana White Sends Stars to War

America’s finest will have a chance to meet some of MMA’s finest in late June because B.J. Penn, Michael Bisping, Urijah Faber and Carlos Condit are flying to Afghanistan to visit with U.S. soldiers stationed at six military bases.

“We are honored to send UFC and WEC fighters to visit the men and women of the United States Military,” UFC President Dana White says. (UFC’s parent company, Zuffa, also owns the WEC.) “We are pleased to be giving back to such a great cause; many of our fighters have served in the military and understand what a great contribution our troops are making overseas.”

“Their presence will certainly help boost the morale of the soldiers, which is so important during their duties overseas,” says Sgt. Bart Murphy of the 101st Airborne Division.

We’ll have more info following the tour.

As a former soldier, I think this is great!

  1. i definatly dont think dana white has always made the best decisions for what happens in the octagon and ufc, but he has definatly always made the right decisions in creating a good clean image of the sport, and this is the kind of thing that allows people to see how MMA is good and can make a great impact in society

  2. I hate it when people bag on Dana White. He is running an organization that has absolutely exploded under his management. He has turned glorified brawling into what people now call a sport.

  3. Dana white has done alot for mma.like 10 years ago it was a"blood sport"now its he fastest growing sport in the world probably.he has made alot of not so great choices, but he has also made it clear to alot of people that mma isnt what they thought it was.

  4. Of course it is a positive thing for MMA fighters to visit the troops and boost their morale.  That said, Dana White is a douche bag.  He steam rolled PRIDE and is depriving us of seeing the best fighters in the world.  He is a greedy, conniving, glory hound who is raping all of us for these ridiculous pay per views.  UFC has become a monopoly and I can't wait for Affliction or other fight companies to get large enough to compete.  Enjoy it while it lasts Dana the douche - your days on top are numbered.

  5. didn't that a*****e bail rampage out of jail too. d**n this guy is a prick

  6. I think he's always done a lot of good. He's giving back to the US Armed Forces. Remember when UFC had a Fight Night event at a military base in San Diego? People only see him for his language use and his bashing of other organizations. Because of the popularity of the UFC, more people are aspiring to be fighters. He helped give the sport some credibility.

  7. Awesome!!
